Do you know what is the most cancerous thing? Try having a town of people whose only claim to fame is the movie "Groundhog's Day". I swear to God if I have to hear references from that movie again, I will shoot myself. It is very un-right wing to be obsessed with a single event in a town's history.

Counterpoint: The prevalence of "Remember The Alamo!" bumper stickers and other merchandise in San Antonio.

RWDT, a question for you scumbags. It looks that Congress may keep the Internet's address book (as the WSJ calls it) from passing into the hands of that private entity. Is this a good idea or would the more right wing thing to do be to keep it under our own watch?

This is a valid counter-point yes. However, "Remember the Alamo" and the Alamo seem to be a bit more important than an early 90's comedy. I have not been in Texas long enough to judge whether or not it is cancerous to the level that Groundhogs day is.

Its the domain name register I believe. Like the http://www.shittynamehere.com thing if I understand it correctly. Don't worry, Uncle Sugar assuredly has the rest of the stuff too.

Edit: The fear being that other international types aren't so committed to free speech as the U.S. While I do criticize Uncle Sam from to time to time, this is a fear I share. The Chinese and the Russians both have proven that agreements with them aren't worth the paper they are written on.

Fair. And I'm sympathetic. San Diego has plenty that it's famous for, but when I mention that I'm from there, what do I get? That's right:

"San Diego: German for 'A whale's vagina'."

Thats pretty awful, how did that even come about as a thing?. I'm grateful that my own hometown doesn't have anything particularly remarkable about it in that case.

Or Novatore is an obscure philosophical figure and I simply didn't know about him, there's always that.

So if you are to be understood, I romanticize Bismarck, Napoleon, and Stalin, figures who actually contributed to the lives of millions, while you do the same to a bank robber and murderer who did not contribute anything positive, not even to his own life in the end (considering the way he met his end). If he died for his ego, then it is as much a spook as the nation, race, civilization, etc. Furthermore, he is as much an appropriator as the bourgeois, as he is taking wealth that rightfully should go to the people who produce it and not to his silly fantasies about being a Nietzschean hero.

CM, with Nietzsche's view of master morality, the will to power, the ubermensch, etc. how can one deny the egotistical nature of his writings?

Exactly. It's not Nietzsche being called an egoist that concerns me. It's the use of his name in the denigration or glorification of the kind of actions, concepts, and people that have nothing to do with his writing or the ideas expressed within.

You implied that it was because I referred to him as an egoist, I'm sorry for the misunderstanding.

In the case of Novatore, he was directly inspired by Nietzsche as were a lot of individualist anarchists.

To be fair, it was a pretty funny scene in Anchorman.
