Which is a cross-party sentiment with only minor variation in that Trump wants the bombs to target civilians whereas Clinton just wants to catch them in the crossfire with plenty of plausible deniability so we don't need to talk about it.

Also, as Geographically literate as the other two parties look...what's the significance when both have policies that amount to Bomb Syria vs Bomb Syria REALLY hard? Clinton's goal is different from Trumps, but the means to reaching that goal...not much daylight.

I'll give Johnson some credit. He might not know Aleppo, and that might be funny, but at least his ideas are actually different.

He's a no-hoper. Third parties are not viable in FPTP. You have two options. First is to get rid of FPTP voting, which would require a Constitutional amendment. Neither party is likely to support that because it would go against their party's interests to give people another option. Second is to change one of the two major parties from within and affect a complete realignment of the US political system. This has only happened six times throughout all of US history: 1968, 1932, 1896, 1858, 1828, and 1814.

I find myself so disgusted with the lot of them (and 90% of the down-ballot races are unopposed teabaggers and Trumpites, so there's no point there) that, unless there's a referendum on the ballot, I'm staying home for the first time since I've been eligible to vote.

It's also not not enumerated. 10th Amendment baby, states rights. In theory, we could change how elections work...but I would think most states wouldn't go for that. Some states have systems like Louisiana and Georgia where Senators and Governors need 50% to win and avoid run off, but I think a Constitutional amendment might be easier than changing the election laws of 51 governments.

The electoral college is explicitly FPTP. For Congress you can't have a nationwide proportional system because each state's representatives are only elected by voters from that state. Upon closer inspection, however, I suppose there's technically nothing stopping a state government from allocating its Representatives on a proportional basis. Again though, why would they do that given that under the current system the ruling parties of each state can gerrymander districts to ensure safe seats in Congress?

As a matter of fact, I only watch about 3 hours of news a day, 1 hour from each source.

Usually my day ends around 2, but I don't head home until around 4 because I hate an empty house. So that gives me time for Jake Tapper. The Wife and I watch O'Reilly while we eat dinner, makes good conversation.We get out the "how was your day?", "Did you remember to pick up milk?", "That bitch Jeanine ate my yogurt even though my name was on it", and "What's for Dinner" etc before dinner. Then we drink wine and watch Maddow.

Moral of the Story, it's something that's really hard to do alone. If you're with someone, especially a beautiful and opinionated someone, you barely notice.

EDIT: Also, Wife is usually making the posts on this account if any occur before 3PM. After 3 PM, it's usually me. Chances are, you've debated with Mrs.UTP.
