She has her flaws but she's not nearly as hawkish as Cruz is on foreign policy.
Plus Cruz basically wants a theocracy, emphasizing "America is a Christian nation" way more than the average politician (or even conservative politician) should.

I am pretty sure most illegals know why they didn't go legally, namely that it takes to freaking long and is hard for people who would not be going into specialized jobs to get in.

They didn't come legally partially cause the process is pretty long. I got lucky cause my dad was basically top 2% income material, Director of Semiconductor development and whatnot. For others it is an extremely long process. I don't condone their actions for coming in illegally but you have to understand why they did it if yo want to oppose it.

It was a pretty interesting one. If you think about it, the electoral map from that election would be similar to some hypothetical future election where the GOP kicks out the religious right, paleocons, and other far-right portions of the party and makes inroads with Hispanics and moderate whites.

So they already know they aren't here legally because they want a better living for their family (considering Mexico and Central America were in the shitter back then and are slowly improving).

The main problem of illegal immigration is economic and social desperation. Those are people who have nothing to lose already, so they decide to come over and gamble to exit the stark poverty of their community.

Honestly, being paid 5 dollars an hour over here in a farm is far better than being paid 5-8 dollars a day in Mexico for them.
