Transhumanism is a thing, and it'll become an issue of debate the following decades.

I'm very open to the idea of transhumanism. The thing is, I'm fine as long as it doesn't become a means of discrimination and superiority. It can't be a thing people pay for to become superior to others. The entire human species needs to rise together.

You better start banning private education, private healthcare, gym memberships, beauty enhancements, and anything else that allows someone to become "superior" in some way by paying money.

You'd rather everyone be worse off instead of everyone eventually being better off. You don't care about what's best for everyone. You care about enforcing your ideals of social communism in which no man or woman can be better than another.

I dunno about it, since the word is thrown around quite a bit nowadays, but I think it fits the definition of strawman.

I agree with idea of improving ourselves through technology, but I don't see how this will make us "transcend humanity" like the term implies. I augment my vision by wearing eyeglasses, am I somehow more than a human than someone who doesn't? Not to mention the fact that many trans-humanist ideas are grounded in science fiction rather than actual science.

Its about exiting standard human constraints and weaknesses. Your glasses elevate you to a "standard" of humanity, trans-humanists seek to eliminate this standard entirely.

Vaccines, then. Or hell, airplanes, seeing as how we cannot normally fly. It just seems rather arbitrary to say "now that we can do this WE HAVE TRANSCENDED HUMANITY!"

I'm not too hyped about it. I like my body as it is. Surely, it is a nice thing to have a good functioning leg if you loose one. But I do not feel the need to have it removed for a superior leg.

I'm all for Transhumanism. I feel technology will become our salvation against things such as disease, and I do feel there will be significant impacts within society should such become a reality, including major ethical debates. It's speculative, but I'd love to see fully prosthetic bodies, and cybernetic implants such as brain-computer interfaces with network integration, and other related technologies.
