Wait, are you serious about no more coin flips???

Also, what a dumb rule to not allow players to jump to block field goals. The NFL seriously needs to go over a bunch of rules passed the last few years and scrap most of them. Just find a rulebook from the 80s or something go from there.

It's all for the safety of the players.

No one has been hurt by jumping lineman to block field goals. Sure something could happen, but that's the sport. Players are well compensated for their injuries. Football can be a dangerous sport- everyone knows that. The quest for safety will suck the soul out of the game.

Compensation is not enough. Players getting permanently injured or having a weak spot is a chronic pain for them.

Then don't play football. Making millions of dollars in salary, and potentially millions more in endorsements is fair compensation for putting your body at risk.

Not saying all changes in the safety are bad; for example not leading with helmets when tackling. Very sensible. But not allowing players to jump and block field goals and kicks? Ridiculous! When its successful, which it rarely is, its one of the most exciting parts of a game. No one has been hurt, players like it, coaches like it, and fans like it. Why do something that irritates everybody involved? Essentially, 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it'

Fair enough. Certainly, the inner workings of the NFL is different from those of the NHL.

If you legitimately want to make the sport safer, enforce rules that ban illegal and dangerous hits. Get thugs like Vontez Burficit off the field.
Helmet to helmet hits are probably the most dangerous for players.

Now I really want to go. Probably can't afford to, tho' :(

Hopefully the Pats will put Zolak on the jumbotron again.

But that would mean NFL officials actually care about player-safety, if they throw people out for head-hunting...wait...

After the 2017 opener, there might be a big discussion about commissioner safety. ;)

It's all for the safety of the players.

This protects the players about as much as disbanding the entire national football league would. No one gets hurt hurdling. It didn't happen AT ALL last year.

People get hurt less often from the hurdling plays than they do on average period. Your argument is completely absurd. No helmet-hitting, grabbing of the facemask, that sort of thing makes sense. This? Ridiculous. First they try and make the extra point more difficult to make, and now they go and make it easier, and make the thirty yard game winning field goal a certainty.

Not to be an ass, but you know nothing about the sport, please don't try and engage in an debate about it if you have no real evidence to defend your point.

Ey, remember when he was in Tennessee and these things didn't happen? Well, I don't. XD And Dre Kirkpatrick is pretty good.

But honestly, I fully support not letting him back in. I don't think that the NFL should force him to not come back, I think that the team itself shouldn't let him in. Each team should strive to have not only a super-bowl caliber roster, but one comprised of players who are good moral examples to the fanbase. Again, not that this should be enforced. If Jones and the Bengals agree that they want him playing again, then he should be playing again.

Exactly this. There's a huge difference between screwing up the first time and screwing up the second time....especially with this.

I'm not surprised that Bengals are like 'please let him go' though, because that organisation simply accepts and promotes players with recurring moral issues. There's a difference between Hines Ward, whom many have claimed to be dirty back when he's around but is also a great guy off-turf, and Pacman Jones....

D'Onta Foreman, 234 pounds, ran two 4.45s at his pro day.
http://draftwire.usatoday.com/2017/03/2 ... 34-pounds/
I think that should be good enough to make him the second running back chosen overall.

There were questions about his speed, but not now.

Again, the large shouldn't prevent him from coming back. If Pac Man and the Bungals agree, then he should be able to return. At the same time, the Bungals, like every team, should be striving for not only a super bowl caliber roster, but one that's able to set an example for the fanbase. People do look up to these guys. And when they see that stud corner Adam Jones, or LB Burfict, or Jameis Winston, can get away with these things, they'll realize that talent trumps all. Again, the NFL shouldn't be enforcing it, but the teams should individually recognize that, in the long run, this will hurt their organization.
