As a fan it was really really painful. It was great to see the upturn in the second half of the season but still depressing that awful start held us back from the playoffs. We certainly could've played better than the Bills.

If the Chargers had a competent kicker at the beginning of the season, they would've made the playoffs. That's an absolute fact. They went 9-7, if their kicker had made the kick at the end of the Dolphins game in Week 2, they'd have gone 10-6 and made the playoffs via wildcard.
Anyway, that's why they need a good kicker. They've lost too many games the last 2 years on special teams failures and the kicking situation is mainly to blame.
The Cowboys game, too, wasn't it? Or did they not have a punter? Because I feel like they had to go for it on 4th down in the red zone like every drive.
Our kicker got injured, so the only kicking-related person we had was the punter who'd never attempted a placekick as a professional or even in college. That's why he missed the practice net on the sideline. So yeah that was why we had to keep going for it on 4th down because he clearly wasn't in any condition to be kicking field goals.
Luckily though, that night Rivers was on fire and threw for like 400 yards. So we ended up not needing a kicker.
