I'm thinking they expect to be able to land Bradley Chubb in the draft, and trading JPP saves a ton of cap space, so why not get a superior athlete and player while not paying as much for him?

On the Suh deal: Is he an egotistical maniac? Yes, certainly, but the guy is still a top-notch DT as a pass rusher and a run stopper. Getting him with Aaron Donald and Michael Brockers on the DL is going to be terrifying. Marcus Peters, Lamarcus Joyner, John Johnson, Aquib Talib, Sam Shields, Nickell Robey Coleman in the secondary. This defense might be a little overhyped, honestly, but it wouldn't surprise me at all if they ended up as a top 5 unit and led the league in turnovers.

I don't know, the league got along without it fine until 1986. I don't care one way or the other but I see his point. It annoys me no end that they're having it in baseball now.

That's an unfair analysis because we had Rodgers for part of the season. If you look at each team's record starting week 6 (the week searches for "can I donate a shoulder for transplant" spiked on Google in Wisconsin) the Bears actually performed better. Sure, it wasn't by much, but the Bears performed better.

The Packers' record starting week 6 (counting the loss to the Vikings): 3-8
The Bears' record starting week 6: 4-7

The Bears also averaged more points per game over that stretch, largely thanks to the two fat goose eggs that Packers put up twice.

Both teams had their bye during that period of time too. Also, the Packers had Aaron Rodgers Week 15 against the Panthers and still lost, so there's that too. I am from Wisconsin and I am a proud cheesehead, but I will be the first one to admit we immediately become one of the worst teams in the league the minute Aaron Rodger retires or leaves for greener (pun intended) pastures.
