How did Brees get to New Orleans anyway? He was a back up San Diego, I think. Was he traded? Signed?

He was let go because of a shoulder injury in the last game, which was why only two teams, New Orleans and Miami, were going after him. He started four seasons for SD, by the way, with average production.

But it's quite a story, really. Lumi would prolly tell it better. Basically, Drew had the chance to go to Miami, one of the best, most exciting cities in the United States, or the hurricane-ravaged New Orleans. And, during his visit, where he was supposed to be being taken through a route that wouldn't reveal the expansive damage in the city, their driver took a wrong turn, and Brees decided that he wanted to do what he could to help this city recover and whatnot.

So he went to New Orleans.

O-Line?

Offensive line-the part that protects the quarterback from the opposing defensive line. Also the "center" in the offensive line is the one who snaps the ball to the quarterback

Speaking of football what's your take on the Las Vegas Raiders move from Oakland to Vegas.
I do enjoy the prospect of watching states who had no professional sports teams finally have one besides as of right now California has 4 football teams which seems a bit unfair.

It's idiotic. I get that the Raiders wanted a new stadium, but hey, I think the trend right now is that most cities aren't going to be the primary financiers of stadiums anymore. If you want a new stadium, finance it yourself like a big boy.

I think moving from the 6th-biggest TV market to the 40th is absurdly dumb, though.

Without a doubt. Even stupider is trying to stay in Oakland for the next two years in the wake of this abomination. Gotta think that decision may be revisited in a year.

Happy 3-28 day!

Today, 3-28-17, is the monthly anniversary of the Falcons blowing a 28-3 lead with 17 minutes left in regulation.

Absolutely ridiculous. The coaches are only going to put the guys who can make those kinds of leaps there, and I've never seen anyone injured doing it. If they are, then it's just as rare as other injuries.

If you don't have a good offensive line, your quarterback is more prone to being sacked/hurried/pressured.

yup. Even QBs who can take pressure well are often forced to misfire or be sacked if the O-line is bad. Russell Wilson, even though his injury and inferior play from him is partially to blame, was often forced to make bad throws because his o line was garbage this season

More noteworthy in the history of NFL franchises, on March 28, 1984 the Bob Irsay owned Baltimore Colts slithered out of Maryland in the dead of night in Mayflower Moving trucks for their unsanctioned relocation to Indy. This set off a chain of reactions finally leading to the original Cleveland Brown franchise moving to Baltimore after the 1995 NFL season. The tremors from these events are still felt today in both cities.

No more coin flips either. There will be a pillow fight instead to determine who has the first possession. Afterwards each teams starting QB will exchange bouquets of flowers and kiss each other on the cheek.

At least the Colts have had some degree of success since then. The Browns have been all down hill. Little did they know, those early 90s seasons would be their golden age...

Tackling is dangerous. Two hand touch only. And stiff arming? More like a $1,000,000 fine and immediate suspension!
Also if you move with any sort of vigor or show excitement after a touchdown, that's a fine.

also, if you have a bad offensive line, you're run game won't be very good because the defensive line will be able to get off their blocks and such.

Well, maybe not then. Their golden age was in the 1950s. I believe they won 4 NFL championships that decade and played in eight of the ten championship games, plus they won it in 1964 (versus Baltimore). They were what the Pats are now back in the 1950s and even the 60s, even better than the Pats and that was the Cleveland Browns' golden age. Too bad it's been so long, a lot of peeps haven't a clue.

...Why? The rule anyway is that hitting the kicker gets you knocked back 15-yards. Another pointless rule to try to make the game "safer". In reality it just takes away a decent penalty that adds an edge to the game. Now they're no point in having anyone on the field for the FG. Like...what is this? Are they gonna have to just all jump in place to try and block the ball? What's the point?

Wait, are you serious about no more coin flips???

Also, what a dumb rule to not allow players to jump to block field goals. The NFL seriously needs to go over a bunch of rules passed the last few years and scrap most of them. Just find a rulebook from the 80s or something go from there.
