Very tough stretch for the rest of the season. In fact, one of the toughest I have seen for LSU. Ole Miss most likely will be the easiest game to play in that stretch. Also, there's only five days between the Florida game and A&M game.

And if- it's a big if, but if- Colorado can upset Washington, I think Michigan absolutely deserves to go as the #4 over Big Ten champion Wisconsin/Penn State, over Pac-12 champion Colorado, and over Big 12 champion Oklahoma/Oklahoma State. Then, we'd have Alabama #1, Clemson #2, Ohio State #3, Michigan #4.
Here's why. In this scenario, Alabama gets the #1 overall seed regardless of what happens(and if Florida can pull off the upset, there's no way they'll go to the playoff at 9-3).
If Clemson wins, they get the #2 overall seed. For the purposes of this scenario, let's assume they do. Then, Ohio State gets in at #3.
Then, if Washington wins, they'd be #4. But if they lose, then you have an 11-2 Colorado, an 11-2/10-3 Penn State/Wisconsin(interchangeable), and a 10-2 Oklahoma/Oklahoma State. As well as a 10-2 Michigan and an 11-2 Washington.
Michigan, at that point, would have three top 10 wins(over Penn State, Wisconsin, and Colorado). Two of them are Power 5 Conference Champions. All of those teams have two losses. Michigan has impressed enough, I feel like, to warrant a spot over those teams. We beat Penn State 49-10(who, in my opinion, is grossly overrated right now).
If the argument is best teams, Michigan played much better than Oklahoma did against their common opponent(Ohio State). As for Oklahoma State... They lost. Washington is interesting, but the committee has never looked favorably at Washington, and there's no way they'd be ranked ahead of Colorado, so I consider them irrelevant to this discussion.
Of course, if all the favorites win this weekend, it should be simple- #1 Bama, #2 Clemson, #3 Ohio State, #4 Washington.
Now, there's a scenario where Clemson loses and Washington wins. Now, it gets slightly more complicated.
Depending on the margin in San Francisco, Colorado might fall out of the top 10 in that scenario. I'm going to assume, however, that they don't(considering either Oklahoma or Oklahoma State will be losing as well). If Virginia Tech wins and wraps up a spot in the Orange Bowl, then the committee is left to decide between an 11-2 Clemson and a 10-2 Michigan, neither of whom won their conference. Since the last time we had the same record, Michigan was ranked ahead of Clemson, I'd assume they would do the same, but it wouldn't shock me to see them rank Clemson ahead of Michigan(and the Big 10 champ).
In that case, you see Bama #1, Ohio State #2, Washington #3, Clemson #4(I think the committee would rank Clemson ahead of Michigan because of their divisional title, and the fact that the loss came in that crucial 13th game, which I could live with).
Of course, if Clemson and Washington both lose, that means chaos. In that scenario, I think we'd see Bama #1, Ohio State #2, Clemson #3, and Oklahoma #4. I think OU could get to the playoff in that scenario, though I think Oklahoma State can't. If Clemson, Washington, and OKST all lose, then we'd see Bama #1, Ohio State #2, Clemson #3, Michigan #4. Or, if they wanted to guarantee astronomical TV ratings, they'd have Bama #1, Ohio State #2, Michigan #3, and Clemson #4. Last year's championship game rematch in one semifinal? Check. We get to watch more Michigan vs. Ohio State? Check. It'd be a rating bonanza.

Oh, but Penn State lost to lowly Pitt! Well, so did Clemson, yet that does not seem to have dimmed Clemson's playoff chances.

Oklahoma AND Ohio State in the playoffs would be hysterical. Both look at Alabama like:
Ah my gosh, that would be perfect.
So I need Washington and Virginia Tech to win. I like this.

If Penn State wins the B1G Championship the committee can only make a mistake in not including them, but of course, they won't do that, because they are stupid.Torisakia wrote:Hurts getting no respect from these Heisman voters. Stupid is not a word which describes the Big Ten. They are well supplied with nationally ranked doctoral programs. Unlike most of the SEC.
