LOL no. LSU is going to go after Art Briles, Petrino, or maybe Tom Herman (but I don't think he wants to leave Houston).

Art Briles? The Baylor coach that got fired?

Ok so let's see the rest of the games for LSU: Vs Ole Miss, Vs Alabama, @Arkansas, Vs Florida, @Texas A&M.

Very tough stretch for the rest of the season. In fact, one of the toughest I have seen for LSU. Ole Miss most likely will be the easiest game to play in that stretch. Also, there's only five days between the Florida game and A&M game.

Somehow, someway, Michigan is still in the playoff chase at 10-2. (I am a massive Michigan fan- this is my disclaimer).

And if- it's a big if, but if- Colorado can upset Washington, I think Michigan absolutely deserves to go as the #4 over Big Ten champion Wisconsin/Penn State, over Pac-12 champion Colorado, and over Big 12 champion Oklahoma/Oklahoma State. Then, we'd have Alabama #1, Clemson #2, Ohio State #3, Michigan #4.

Here's why. In this scenario, Alabama gets the #1 overall seed regardless of what happens(and if Florida can pull off the upset, there's no way they'll go to the playoff at 9-3).

If Clemson wins, they get the #2 overall seed. For the purposes of this scenario, let's assume they do. Then, Ohio State gets in at #3.

Then, if Washington wins, they'd be #4. But if they lose, then you have an 11-2 Colorado, an 11-2/10-3 Penn State/Wisconsin(interchangeable), and a 10-2 Oklahoma/Oklahoma State. As well as a 10-2 Michigan and an 11-2 Washington.

Michigan, at that point, would have three top 10 wins(over Penn State, Wisconsin, and Colorado). Two of them are Power 5 Conference Champions. All of those teams have two losses. Michigan has impressed enough, I feel like, to warrant a spot over those teams. We beat Penn State 49-10(who, in my opinion, is grossly overrated right now).

If the argument is best teams, Michigan played much better than Oklahoma did against their common opponent(Ohio State). As for Oklahoma State... They lost. Washington is interesting, but the committee has never looked favorably at Washington, and there's no way they'd be ranked ahead of Colorado, so I consider them irrelevant to this discussion.

Of course, if all the favorites win this weekend, it should be simple- #1 Bama, #2 Clemson, #3 Ohio State, #4 Washington.

Now, there's a scenario where Clemson loses and Washington wins. Now, it gets slightly more complicated.

Depending on the margin in San Francisco, Colorado might fall out of the top 10 in that scenario. I'm going to assume, however, that they don't(considering either Oklahoma or Oklahoma State will be losing as well). If Virginia Tech wins and wraps up a spot in the Orange Bowl, then the committee is left to decide between an 11-2 Clemson and a 10-2 Michigan, neither of whom won their conference. Since the last time we had the same record, Michigan was ranked ahead of Clemson, I'd assume they would do the same, but it wouldn't shock me to see them rank Clemson ahead of Michigan(and the Big 10 champ).

In that case, you see Bama #1, Ohio State #2, Washington #3, Clemson #4(I think the committee would rank Clemson ahead of Michigan because of their divisional title, and the fact that the loss came in that crucial 13th game, which I could live with).

Of course, if Clemson and Washington both lose, that means chaos. In that scenario, I think we'd see Bama #1, Ohio State #2, Clemson #3, and Oklahoma #4. I think OU could get to the playoff in that scenario, though I think Oklahoma State can't. If Clemson, Washington, and OKST all lose, then we'd see Bama #1, Ohio State #2, Clemson #3, Michigan #4. Or, if they wanted to guarantee astronomical TV ratings, they'd have Bama #1, Ohio State #2, Michigan #3, and Clemson #4. Last year's championship game rematch in one semifinal? Check. We get to watch more Michigan vs. Ohio State? Check. It'd be a rating bonanza.

Penn State beat Michigan State by more than 30 points. Ohio State beat MSU by one measly point. Of course Penn State beat Ohio State.

So the inevitable result is that for purposes of ranking going toward the playoffs, Ohio State remains well ahead of Penn State.

Michigan lost to Iowas and Ohio State. Penn State beat those teams yet remains ranked behind Michigan.

Oh, but Penn State lost to lowly Pitt! Well, so did Clemson, yet that does not seem to have dimmed Clemson's playoff chances.

Hurts getting no respect from these Heisman voters. A QB who strikes the Heisman pose then fumbles and loses to Kentucky gets ahead of him.

In other news, who's going to be our opponent for the Semifinal? I'm feeling Washington myself.

Hurts is hugely overrated.

Every Bama RB ever is hugely overrated, what else is new? They've had RBs running for Heismans for like the last five years straight or something.

Then again, at the same time, I wish they wouldn't just dump it to a QB every year...I mean, seriously, HOW do they make these decisions? College is not like the NFL, which is far-more QB oriented. RBs are still far more highly valued by colleges and still get no love. It blows my mind. Keenan Reynolds broke Adrian Peterson's rushing record and got nothing. Leonard Fournette has been a beast the last few years and got nothing. Todd Gurley got nothing. Nothing. Absolutely just blows my mind.

In other news, who's going to be our opponent for the Semifinal? I'm feeling Washington myself.

Hurts is hugely overrated.

Regardless, Lamar Jackson still isn't better than him.

Dude lost to Kentucky. I would strip him from all Heisman voting just for that, if I was on the committee. If you are truly that good, you should not be dropping an easy game to KENTUCKY, OF ALL TEAMS.

Pope Joan wrote:Penn State beat Michigan State by more than 30 points.

I'm going to strongly disagree. Penn State got smoked by Michigan. That 49-10 beatdown was a true beatdown. I was there, in the student section :P

But I think the committee got it right. The 4 best teams got in, and they had the 4 best records to back that up. I don't think Ohio State vs. Penn State is a real question, because while Penn State did beat Ohio State, Ohio State did have 3 top 10 wins(Wisconsin, Michigan, Oklahoma) and two of them were away from home in prime time. Plus, Ohio State had the better record. Penn State lost to Pitt(who isn't that good of a team) and followed that up by getting railroaded by Michigan a couple of weeks later. Clemson's loss to Pitt is on the same level, but Clemson won the rest of their games. Penn State didn't, and their other loss was a beatdown at the hands of U of M.

Basically, what I'm saying, is that when you have 2 losses, and one is to a team that's not very good and the other is a blowout at the hands of a team that is very good, it is very hard to say that they are better than Ohio State, who lost on a blocked field goal on the road in prime time on the home field of the #5 team in America.

Washington vs. Penn State.... Again, I think you have to hold up the records. Washington was 12-1, and its only loss was to a streaking USC. That loss, is the equivalency of the Pitt loss. But, Penn State's loss to Michigan(rather than to Pitt) was what kept it out of the playoff, as no other playoff team had a loss like that on its resume. Yea, Penn State was hot, but it's not just about how you finish, its about how you play throughout the course of the entirety of a season, and playing well in September matters as well.

So, time for bowl predictions. There are many like them, but these are mine. I'm not a sports analyst (and neither are you, so don't be Danny Kannell and act like you are one), so don't be upset if some games are as accurately predicted as others. The scores are just an added bonus. What I'm going for here is if I predict the winner right.

As always, I will wait to do the CFP semifinals till the week of them, as well as the CFP Championship the weekend before it.

I hope LSU mows Louisville down, in Leonard Fournette's last game. Oh my gosh that'll be incredible. Right after Lamar Jackson gets the Heisman, his team drops 41 to LSU. :lol2:

Also, hey! I like Russilo and Kannell! XD
