Despite what TV has taught us, officers do actually have to be held accountable for things.
A lot of that is true. Many police agencies will just end up playing a big game of "shuffle the officer". The officer in question will not be on patrol anymore but will still be doing police work and never facing Justice.

Slight addition to that statement, maybe they should arrest the officer for manslaughter? Would this count as manslaughter? Im not an expert on US law however

Some how they will make it completely justified and the officer will walk. I've seen it happen time and time again, I've lost faith in the US justice system
