He's already saying now that the election's been rigged and that there's going to be voter fraud because of those voter ID laws that were struck down. I'd say it's a good as guaranteed that when he loses, he'll start talking about how people, tremendous, intelligent people, have been telling him that they've seen so much fraud, terrible fraud. Believe me.

And then someone tries to assassinate Hillary at the inauguration.

Well, yea, but since when has it started going worse and worse, according to you? Any date in particular?

I mean, you're saying America is so horrible and things have been getting bad for a while. Surely this is an informed historical notion rather than just smoke blowing up a hole.

Oh, yes, the "ruination" of the nation from the Global Financial Crisis, caused by Wall Street and President Bush's asleep-at-the-help "regulators". Yeah, right. Methinks that CC is pulling his ideas from his backside - there is no metric, literally no measurable metric, on which America has done poorly over the past eight years. But evangelical right-wingers like CC prefer to claim that it's all going poorly, and that only their way will make things go right again. By which, of course, they mean the restoration of the white male as the natural and lawful head of the universe, The Way It Was Meant To Be.

Trump isn't going to say anything after a certain point (an icy one). He'll just go under and that will be that.

Like bunches of geriatric patients always do. Trump's base will be lucky if half of them don't have heart attacks and siezures before election night is over. The physicians around the nation are probably already dreading what will become known as Code Black Wednesday. OTOH, funeral parlor owners dream of such things.

This is true, but there's a world of difference between a wild-card winning a primary (especially when the field was so heavily divided to begin with) and any sort of substantial revolution or rioting. There's enough to worry about in this election - I don't think it's necessary to start worrying about the Second American Civil War.

So on 538's Now-Cast, they are predicting a 91.5% victory for Clinton if elections were held today.

Just how the fuck do you manage that?!

I think perhaps you misunderstand. They're not saying Clinton would get over 90% of the vote. They're saying she has a 91.5% chance of winning if the election were today.

Which given the poll numbers right now, seems conservative if anything.

"Our progress in degeneracy appears to me to be pretty rapid. As a nation, we began by declaring that "all men are created equal." We now practically read it "all men are created equal, except negroes" When the Know-Nothings get control, it will read "all men are created equal, except negroes, and foreigners, and Catholics." When it comes to this I should prefer emigrating to some country where they make no pretence of loving liberty -- to Russia, for instance, where despotism can be taken pure, and without the base alloy of hypocracy." - President Abraham Lincoln.

Well, what they are predicting is that she will only get 49.1% of the popular vote, although she'd get the majority of electoral votes at about 366 if the election was to happen today.

Which makes complete sense. You can very much win an election with less than the majority vote in the United States because of the electoral college.

You could win it even without the electoral college with as many smaller parties as there are. I don't think a lot of people would like the idea of second rounds in this country though instant runoffs could work....but that's another argument altogether.
