The last two seasons of The Simpsons haven't been bad at all actually. Family Guy used to be decent and is mediocre at best now. If you ask me, the show's humor hinges on Herbert The Pervert and Quagmire.

I would argue that for this, it's the "apples/oranges" theory, you can't compare them, since they're different, so vastly different in aim and style.

I lol'd. FG is a direct ripoff of the Simpsons in theme, target demographic, and character design. It's not so much apples and oranges as it is apples and apple shaped dogshit

Small correction. Peter isn't an alcoholic. Just because somebody drinks a lot doesn't make them alcoholic. Homer drinks a lot more than Peter does.

Well, while Family Guy has me laughing more often, the few times Simpsons make me laugh are more entertaining, I just prefer Family Guy, it's good when you just want to kick back and watch something you don't have to think about.

I would say he probably wasn't specific enough with the comparisons, but the shows are similar enough that I feel safe in calling FG an unabashed ripoff of the Simpsons.
