Simpsons. When it came out, it was pretty radical. Back then, who ever heard of a fictional television child talking back to their parents? I'll tell you who? Nobody! It's humor, at least during the "golden age", was clever. Family Guy? That show relies mostly on fart and sex jokes and controversy.

Family Guy humor: Fart! Hahaha. Sex! Hahaha. Fart fart sex sex! Hahaha. Show's creator's political beliefs and controversial joke! Hahaha. It's just stupid.

Family Guy, hands down. Simpsons was funny back in the day, but it never got as many laughs as Family Guy with me. Also, it's not as edgy with its political commentary anymore.

Mad Magazine had an issue where they did a virtual episode of Trading Spouses with them.

The Simpsons used to be SUBTLE. The full humor would only be revealed by multiple viewings. Who gets any thing additional out of a multiple viewing of family guy?

I agree. In The Simpsons, the humour are hard to detect and its more intelligible. Family Guy is way funnier, but its just empty. There is no intellectual debate in Family Guy, its just farce and satire, mocking anyone who are not in the current mainstream.

I wouldn't exactly say that. They've had a view jibes at creationists and the like.

To me, it's like asking air or water. I'm a big fan of both. Both have some great classics, and both have some that should have been left in the rubbish bin. It is not 'or', it is 'and'. :)

I could never get into the Simpsons. It's almost like a cultural divide between my generation and the generation before mine, and the generation before that. Family Guy has a couple chuckles here and there, I especially enjoy Stewie and Brian's adventures. I do rather like Seth McFarlane live, though. He was hilarious on Bill Maher.

The Simpsons by far. Family Guy pisses me off. The jokes have nothing to do with the plot of the episode. They're just random jokes that would have the same effect in any episode. And a lot of the stuff tries too hard to be funny and it's not. Like when Peter makes the same noise over and over again for 6 minutes..... That crap isn't funny. It's annoying and makes me change the channel. And Family Guy steals jokes from The Simpsons. I just wish the Simpsons guys would know when to call it quits....

it's a quandry.
Simpsons, when it first came out, had Homer choking Bart on many occasions while Family Guy has the whole family putting Meg down.

Simpsons, Homer actually tries his best but fails. Peter Griffin is just... well he is retarded.

Lisa Simpson tries to use her intellect to help the family. Stewie tries to kill his mother.

Simpsons took years to find their niche. Family Guy is still searching.

Both are actually kinda different. Simpsons has matured to a respectable show that at times seems like they arn't trying to be funny While Family Guy is trying to be funny and sometimes fails.

trying to compare the two is like trying to compare Captain Kirk and Captain Picard.
on the other hand... I have another set of fingers.

Unscramble these words...1) PNEIS. 2)HTIELR 3) NGGERI 4) BUTTSXE
1) SPINE. 2) LITHER 3)GINGER 4)SUBTEXT

I wouldn't want it to end. They can improve their jokes, they just don't try anymore. They must be thinking "well if Family Guy was that retarded and got more than 10 million viewers, so can we!".

I know, especially when Peter falls and hurts his knee. It's not funny, yet they kept on milking it.

Family Guy more fits my sense of humour I suppose.

Yet I think if you look at the peak of The Simpsons it was probably better, even though I don't prefer it personally.

I think they're both shite these days.
"I was walking along the bank of a stream when I saw a mother otter with her cubs. A very endearing sight, and as I watched, the mother otter dived into the water and came up with a plump salmon, which she subdued and dragged on to a half-submerged log. As she ate it, while of course it was still alive, the body split and I remember to this day the sweet pinkness of its roes as they spilled out, much to the delight of the baby otters who scrambled over themselves to feed on the delicacy. One of nature’s wonders: mother and children dining upon mother and children. And that’s when I first learned about evil. It is built in to the very nature of the universe. If there is any kind of supreme being, I told myself, it is up to all of us to become his moral superior."
