There reaches a point were you just wish he stopped coming to bloody give other swimmers a chance at the gold.

I think that this will be the last year. I think he's earned every medal he's got.

He's apparently retiring after these Olympic Games. You can hear the relief of the other swimmers from here.
Nothing to see here, move along.

It's just idiots being idiots. What I find interesting is that in almost every case of Russians being banned, it's a British Nobleman that's heading the organization. It's like they're butthurt that Russia's still so big, whereas the British Empire is now limited to an island and some change in the Pacific, whose landmass doesn't even amount to French Guyana's. The membership:

President Sir Philip Craven (GBR)
• Vice President Andrew Parsons (BRA)
• Member Mohammed Alhameli (UAE)
• Member Ann Cody (USA)
• Member Rita van Driel (NED)
• Member Patrick Jarvis (CAN)
• Member Duane Kale (NZL)
• Member Jairus Mogalo (KEN)
• Member Kyung-won Na (KOR)
• Member John Petersson (DEN)
• Member Miguel Sagarra (ESP)
• Member Yasushi Yamawaki (JPN)
• Athletes’ Representative* Todd Nicholson (CAN)
• Chief Executive Officer** Xavier Gonzalez(ESP)

I guess that what happens when you don't have connections. Russia should make the British Nobility even more butthurt, by passing a law that refuses to recognize the title of any nobles formerly engaged in colonization of faraway lands, not adjacent to one's country. At least the good news for Russian Paralympians is that there's no way that the Government would dare cut their funding after what happened. And with proper funding, the Russian Paralympians can win in Tokyo in 2020. Provided that a butthurt idiot isn't in charge of the IPC that finds that accessible wheelchair is somehow doping.

The Russian won't forget that the first organization to do a blanket ban was the IAAF, headed by Lord Sebastian Coe. The president of WADA is Sir Craig Reedie. Perhaps Russia should do a blanket ban on doing business with British Nobility. After all, I've just presented more proof than WADA. And since they all love blanket bans so much, perhaps a taste of their very own medicine should be handed out. Of course I'm being sarcastic, merely to illustrate just how truly moronic Craven's action was. This is a new record for stupidity in the Paralympics, one that will be, most likely, impossible to beat for at least a Century.

Reading the entire explanation helps understanding the point.

NBC - we don't care for quality, we just want to place as many ads as we possibly can. Fox Sports does a much better job. It's called having actual sports analysts, instead of having advertisement gurus, run the broadcast. But as long as NBC will continue to pay billions, they'll continue to get all of the rights to cover the Olympics in the US, and the only Americans who will understand what quality Olympic coverage truly looks like, will be the expats. Thanks NBC.

https://www.jacobinmag.com/2016/07/olympic-games-russia-drugs-doping-ioc-mclaren/

It's an excellent article, highlighting everything that's wrong with the Olympics. Thank you so much for it!

The article mentions:

1. No elections to either the IOC, WADA, or any major Olympic board
2. Power is based on politics, not sporting prowess
3. Substandard work allowed to fly through press releases, even though it wouldn't survive a minor Court battle
4. Inconsistent drug policies
5. IOC and WADA flat out refusing to allow researchers access to study use of drugs in sports; not even the NFL is this brazen
6. Disproportionate amount of power of coaches over athletes
7. Demanding adherence to gender roles in an environment that defies them

And so much more. And Russians aren't immune from criticism. Despite participating in all 0 of Olympic Sports, Alexander Zhukov is an IOC member. His athletic accomplishments? Not that many. It's not like Russia's lacking in athletes; Alexey Nemov would make a stellar candidate. Then there's Shamil Tarpischev, who played tennis, but again, as far as Russia's achievements go? Why not Anastasia Davydova, a five time Olympic Gold Medalist across three Olympics. It's as if politics led to Zhukov's and Tarpischev's selection.

Just a note, the British 'nobility', as you put it, doesn't really exist any more, and they certainly don't hold any power. 'Sir' Philip Craven is not a member of the aristocracy, he's in fact a 66-year old man in a wheelchair from Bolton (heartland of industrial, working-class England) - he got his knighthood for services to Paralympic Sport, so it kind of makes sense that he'd be made President of the IPC. To me, he's hardly your stereotypical dashing son of the landed gentry trying to prevent Russian railways from extending into Persia.

'Lord' Sebastian Coe is another famous former athlete, winning two Olympic golds and breaking the 800m, 1500m and Mile record numerous times. Like Craven, he is no way part of the British 'nobility', he was made a Lord (a member of Britain's Upper Chamber) after serving as an MP for 5 years, and accepting the peerage from his Party Leader. Again, his athletic credentials make it understandable why he was elected President of the IAAF - He's hardly James Norrington. Similarly, 'Sir' Craig Reedie was knighted for his services to sports administration, after working tirelessly to get Badminton into the Olympics. He's been involved in sports administration at every level for the best part of 30 years. His promotion to the head of WADA, which works closely with the IOC is hardly a surprise. And once again, it's not because he's, as you put it, a 'butthurt' British nobleman. None of them are born with their title, they've all had to work for them, and deserve them (in my eyes).

I don't take issue with you saying Russia's ban is a shitshow, I agree, but I find it quite strange that you're putting it entirely down to 'butthurt' British noblemen that Russia has been, somewhat unfortunately and definitely unfairly, banned from the Paralympics. It might, however, be to do with the state-sponsored doping programme or something.

The British "nobility" isn't very noble these days anyway.
Pretty sure most of the titles aren't hereditary but instead as a reward for "services to the crown" and the like.
Which is basically "You've done very good in what you're good at. Well done, have a medal."

In solidarity with Ukraine, I will be censoring the letters Z and V from my signature. This is -ery much so a big change, but it should be a -ery positi-e one. -olodymyr -elensky and A-o- continue to fight for Ukraine while the Russians are still trying to e-entually make their way to Kharki-, -apori-h-hia, and Kry-yi Rih, but that will take time as they are concentrated in areas like Bakhmut, -uledar, and other areas in Donetsk. We will see Shakhtar play in the Europa League but Dynamo Kyi- already got eliminated. Shakhtar managed to play well against Florentino Pere-'s Real Madrid who feature superstars like -inicius, Ben-ema, Car-ajal, and -al-erde. Some prominent Ukrainian players that got big transfers elsewhere include Oleksander -inchenko, Illya -abarnyi, and Mykhailo Mudryk.
