I disagree. It has been "okay" for a low budget. I liked the projections though. Really good.

What do you mean?

India, not sure. A lot of countries which do well in European Games, Commonwealth Games etc, don't do well in the Olympics for some reason. India should be topping the league - but maybe training and facilities doesn't match that of US, GBR or France.

It's not subjective. China has less medals than Russia and a number of Western European countries so it's weird to compare it to the US and not another country in medal count.

China came second last year, won in 2008 and second in 2004 I believe. So I don't understand your argument.

You'd better believe I'm a bitter Bernie Sanders supporter. The Dems fucked up and fucked up hard. Hopefully they'll learn that neoliberalism and maintaining the status quo isn't the way to win this election or any other one. I doubt they will, though.

No, but the Australian team had it's quarters on fire and they got thieved, too.

It's not weird, you're just making a big deal out of it.

Of course USA, with it's force, would have more medals. 26 Summer Olympics to 9 Summer Olympics. Every year, the amount of athletes increase - and China finds themselves at the top. So don't speak about the past 100 years when China hasn't participated for the last 100 years.

It doesn't matter about the past, it matters about the now, and sorry to burst your bubble, but China is expected to be 1st or 2nd. If other European countries are so good, ask yourselves why 1. China is on the top 10 in 9 editions, and 2. Why they are doing well.

In previous Olympics, China has been doing well, and therefore, that's why I mentioned them. According to your argument, Sweden (who is in the top 10 overall) is better at the Olympics than them. That's why they placed a mere 37th place in comparison to China's 2nd place in 2012.

1. My comment was

Can't wait till USA and China are knocked off their high stool in the medal table - maybe that'll be this year, 2020 or 2024 (which should be held in France)

I said "The medal table" which corresponds to each individual edition's medal table, not the overall Medal-table otherwise I would've said the overall medal table.

Mathematically speaking, China can't beat USA in 2016-2024, so why would I infer the overall medal table?

Just made myself clear if I still wasn't.

Also, Sweden has catching up to do. Sweden's average is 18, while China is 52 medals per games. That is how you should measure which nation should have the catching up to do, because Sweden has a 17 Games advantage.

Because as kids we are told to focus on studies and that takes up bulk of our time with maybe a little time for recreational sports. We don't have programs or facilities in school that allows kids to really get into any specific thing and potential identified and developed into higher levels. There is also the matter of it not being financially viable - hence the first part of my answer "we are told to focus on studies".

I was top 100 in my state and got into a top 10 college in India. My bachelors was heavily subsidized by govt and it cost maybe $2000 Total for 4 years. That is the typical goal all kids aspire for and told to aspire for. Only at college I discovered I was good at almost any sport and made it to college cricket and basketball teams. Even then it was not a viable career choice to switch to sports.

Things are changing these days. I see parents putting kids on sports and games and athlete and all sorts of programs - as they feel they have earned enough and are secure to think that the kid can be supported for these things.
