No, it was a serious statement. It wasn't to actually a call hack anything (which would be impossible, since the server with those emails is gone), but it was to release any emails if they had them. He says the same thing on his twitter.

Also, if he was trying to be humorous, that was some stuff worthy of the old Colbert right there. And I may be biased, but I'm pretty sure Trump is not that good a satirist.

There's a difference between being humorous and sounding like a deranged individual.

He's great at stealing the attention from others (read: the DNC), and that is exactly what he did with this. Moreover, his tone in the sentence immediately after made it seem flippant.

If being flippant means he's not serious, then his whole campaign has been a joke.

Which is appropriate.

Here, we see just a taste of what a Trump presidency entails.

One more step, and Idiocracy comes closer and closer to becoming a documentary.

I'm sure no prosecutor will seriously consider indicting him for treason, but the fact remains that, even if he did it for attention, it was a whole new level of callous. Worse than the Curiel affair.

I wouldn't say he committed treason, but it was certainly a senseless since it makes it look like he's patting foreign espionage on the back if they further his campaign. Certainly he should be happy about the email hack, it was probably what put him in the lead, but he shouldn't come out and say something like this.

I would say he just torpedoed his own campaign except he's said so many senseless things before they've become a signature with him. The man is steel coated with teflon, he just says whatever he wants, he's immune to scandal because he lives and breathes scandal and scandalizes the nation on purpose.

He whose will and desire in conversation is to establish his own opinion, even though what he says is true, should recognize that he is sick with the devil’s disease. And if he behaves like this only in conversation with his equals, then perhaps the rebuke of his superiors may heal him. But if he acts in this way even with those who are greater and wiser than he, then his malady is humanly incurable.

I don't think very many people in this thread or in the US genuinely think what he did was legally treason. I think, and this is just going off my views so take what I say for what you will, but I think most of us are just fucking shocked that a Presidential Nominee would, in any tone, ask a foreign power to commit a crime and steal information from another Presidential Nominee and former US Federal Employee.

The whole situation boggles the mind and I genuinely cannot comprehend his thought process going in.

Doral, Florida — Donald Trump called on Russia to hack Hillary Clinton's email on Wednesday.

"Russia, if you're listening I hope you're able to find the 30,000 emails that are missing. I think you will probably be rewarded mightily by our press," Trump said during a news conference in Florida.

Shortly after his event ended, Trump repeated his call on Twitter.

"If Russia or any other country or person has Hillary Clinton's 33,000 illegally deleted emails, perhaps they should share them with the FBI!" Trump tweeted.

Trump also suggested during his news conference that Russian President Vladimir Putin's lack of respect for the U.S. prompted him to once call President Barack Obama "the N word." There are no published reports to back up Trump's claim about Putin's use of the racially derogatory term.

"I was shocked. Number one, he doesn't like him. Number two, he doesn't respect him," Trump said.

He called Russia's potential involvement in the hack another sign of Russia's "disrespect for our country."

Trump said U.S.-Russia relations would be better under his presidency than if Clinton ascended to the Oval Office, saying he would treat Putin "firmly," but would seek to bolster ties between the U.S. and Russia.

"He will respect me," Trump said.

Of all the idiotic things he says, why this?

Trump is being Trump.

It is old news that Russia already has intercepted most if not all of her emails. Politico already reported it in 2015. Other news sources has talked about it at least since 2013. Zero Hedge and other sites has links to the news. One of the former CIA directors said that respectable (I cannot remember the exact choice of phrase) would already have the desired information. Russia has already offered to release them to our State Dept, but for "some reason" they refused.

Her election is totally tanked at this point, and now we all just have to make our peace with Trump riding the wave straight into the Oval Office.

Regardless of what the intent was or the reaction to it, it was some of the dumbest shit I've seen in a long time. If the presidential race is a job interview, Trump just casually mentioned if an item was valuable enough he might have a buddy steal it. I could give a shit if he was kidding or not, it doesn't sit well with me either way.
