What's your beef with Rand Paul? I disagree with him politically, but aside from that, what's the problem?

This is some seriously hardcore stuff. The picture of this person as an avatar of everything wrong with the establishment, from the crony capitalism to the rigging of democracy, seems to be getting realised more and more; this definitely did her no favours, particularly in trying to escape the "Crooked Hillary" label.

My conundrum is this.
Clinton is a terrible candidate for various reasons.
Trump is a terrible candidate for various reasons.
They're both fucking awful, but because of our ass-backwards political system, I'm obligated to pick one turd over the other.
In this instance, I would pick a slightly soggy plate of pancakes over Donald Trump.

For one, she has not pledged to overturn marriage equality, deprive people of access to health care, ban over a billion people from entering the country, commit war crimes, bring back new sadistic forms of torture, restrict abortions, default on the national debt, or build a useless wall on the border with a friendly neighbour. Nor has she chosen a notorious enemy of non-Christians, women, workers and the LGBT+ community as her running mate, nor encouraged violence at her own rallies, nor seen notoriously authoritarian regimes as examples to follow, nor dogwhistled her way into the hearts of white supremacists and fundamentalist Christians, nor gone on record as saying that American wages were too high, nor denied the science of global warming, nor been actively involved in the birther movement, nor been at the helm of a series of failed businesses and swindles. And she is not running under an anti-porn, pro-coal, dominionist, staunchly anti-LGBT+ platform.
Instead, she has proposed raising the minimum wage, reforming the criminal justice system, providing some much-needed debt relief to students, passing anti-discrimination protections for LGBT+ people, and reforming campaign finance. Among other things. Good stuff, if you are not feeling too ambitious.
Do I trust her to make good on her word, and actually make every proposed policy of hers a reality? No. She remains a neoliberal, not a social democrat. But at least she doesn't seem to be dangerously ignorant and erratic.

She also doesn't have a fetish for Vladimir Putin to the point of openly flirting with abandoning NATO and letting Russia overrun former satellite states and she is definitely not fixated on starting trade wars with China and Mexico just because. But hey, since Trump has vowed to protect the Second Amendment that's good enough for Jim. And those guns will come in handy when the United States and possibly the world economy collapses thanks to a welching con man and the country starts looking like the set of The Walking Dead where LGBTs are lynched on the spot.

To be fair an American president that doesn't go out of his way to demonize Putin and Russia might be a nice change of pace... but Trump is doing it in the worst way, and for the wrong reasons.

The rebels in Syria are backed by Turkey and Saudi Arabia, and number Al-Qaeda (whom both states support in Syria) among their ranks; if they gain control, the state will change from a secular one, into a Islamist nightmare.

First of all I doubt the plan she's proposing there is still possible with Turkey being as it is right now (kowtowing to Putin and pulling out of Syria).
Second, getting rid of Assad is a noble goal. He's a tyrant, and I see no convincing argument for Iran wielding influence over Israel.
Gauthier wrote:New Werpland wrote:Why does Wikileaks want Trump to win?
Wikileaks publishes anything they get, they don't give a fuck if it would literally start World War 3.
Russian hackers implicate Russia, who obviously want Trump to win because he wants to be bottom for Putin sempai and has ranted about pulling the U.S. out of NATO so that Russia can go Tartar over the former Soviet Satellites.

Or they love that Trump has an erotic fixation with Putin to the point he's willing to have the U.S. abandon NATO and give Russia the green light to reclaim former satellites.

Yes, but as far as we know Cruz himself was not involved.

Hardly warranted Trump personally mocking Heidi Cruz's appearance, and then pretending that he didn't.
