My question is, if the guy was allegedly going to kill himself, and that is why the police responded, why did they shoot anyone? That is a situation that specifically calls for nobody to be shot.

While like always I'll reserve final judgement until more facts come out....this one does pretty bad for the cops. Plus if nothing else we clearly have a "good" close to "ideal" victim. An educated professional man unarmed laying down with his hands up in the air. I suppose it may just be a case of police overreaction/brutality, but it certainly does have the appearance of being racist as well. Though again, I'll wait until more facts come out. Plus shooting an unarmed autistic guy seems pretty hard to justify as well, I mean he was reportedly armed in a 911 call but it should have been fairly obvious he wasn't at least after a while. I do think it might also maybe be the case that cops were aiming for the autistic guy and hit his therapist as well but that seems like a fairly implausible stretch at least at this point.

Just add 'a toy truck' where appropriate, since Kinsey had certainly made it clear that that was what the autistic man had so obviously that was the source of the cop's concerns.
