In the metaphor, conservatives are the body, and people who call themselves conservatives while performing vile actions are the cancer. Apologies if that wasn't clear enough. My point is that you want to excise that cancerous growth from the body in order to allow for continued good health. You don't want to ignore it, and you certainly don't want to defend it as part of your body.
I perfectly understood what you were saying, but the thing is when i used the mutation metaphor people used that defense so i was proving a point on how useless the defense was.
But i would cut of the growth. But we are talking people here so....
Right, but these people are a cancer on the conservative movement. We're not looking at the rugged individualism of Barry Goldwater, the intellectual acuity of William F. Buckley, or even the optimistic patriotism of Reagan. We're talking about people who are eating the movement alive from the inside through bullying tactics, hateful rhetoric, and calls for violence against political opponents. This is obviously your decision to make, but I don't see how they're worthy of your attempts to defend them, particularly when you seem to be a perfectly nice person, and they're a bunch of jackasses with jackboot dreams.

that's like a dime a dozen. What makes him particularly special?
