Yeah, if this descends into total chaos, like in Syria, ISIS could easily exploit the unstable Turkish situation and join in on the fun..

The Turkish constitution is still in effect here.

I believe the Turkish constitutions states the military is legally able to stage a coup or something along that line.

That being said, in the absence of more information, if the PM can make a statement unimpeded one wonders how far this 'coup' has actually gotten.

He was apparently on vacation when the coup attempt occurred.

They did this when leadership is out of the country to minimize them rallying others or making martyrs out of them.

Bullshit, unless they violate the laws of the US and can't be removed from office peacefully, then of course not.

I bet either would.

Shame nothing else like the media or judiciary or even opposition MPs were left so intact. Or you know, a good chunk of the country being engulfed in constant fighting (Turkish Kurdistan). Yeah, that's really conducive to getting a fair democratic result, isn't it?

It's not like the entire military is behind the coup.
I am a progressive left-winger with heavy democratic socialist and somewhat Maoist tendencies. I am a staunch anti-imperialist and anti-vanguardist and I am a proponent of empowered democracy, being a staunch believer in the popular mandate. I like Nahuel Moreno, Roberto Mangabeira Unger and Lysander Spooner. Economically, I am a proponent of developmentalism. I dislike American liberals and Blairites and hate racists.

Wasn't the 1960 coup not lead by the head of the military?

It was led by Cemal Gürsel, head of the army. Tbh that guy seemed decent, he actually developed the country after he took over.

Bioshock is from 2007 and is actually amazing.

It's System Shock 2 but with graphics and a plot and a disturbing attitude towards small children and wrenches and the interactions between them.
