Sky News said the Gülen movement condemned the coup.

It's all chaos at this point, there will be numerous false reports.
Just wait until it's over for accurate news.

Christ, I don't really have time to go for an in-depth history lesson, but Erodgan and Gulen used to be allies. They fell out and there was a power struggle, where tonnes of 'gulenists' were arrested and locked up. Erdogan's been spouting conspiracy theories about him ever since - the sources I've read that mention him here are all pro-govt.
I used to run an alliance, and a region. Not that it matters now.

You'd be correct. Conservative Islam is very bad, it tends to cause more problems for the westernized nations I'm so in favor of. Conservatism in a western context, I am heavily in favor of however. That way we can perhaps get nationalism and imperialism back while abolishing globalism. Overall, with the exception of there being inferior technology, the 19th century was the best time period.

Really? Germany and France are both giving arms and supplies to the countries that we all know that support ISIS. Where did ISIS find all those fancy, brand new Europeans weapons?

Alternatively they could be flying them simply because they feel its safer in the air than on the ground, striking airfields is def. something that happens.

Would certainly explain the drop tanks.

Its been awhile but I distinctly remember airfield protection was an obscenely high priority in the N. Caucasus because its really easy to just shoot up a $22 million fighter with a $120 rocket, and obviously thats highly desirable.

Probably the English language's fault.

In Dutch, for instance, we have a seperate word ("gezin") for your immediate family i.e. mom, dad and their kids. Can't readily think of an English alternative for that.

Hope your brother's family fares well too, Gio.

In the meanwhile, Erdogan is trying to escape to Europe. Looks like Germany didn't allow him to land (my guess: to prevent further tensions among the rather large Turkish community of Germany), so he's heading to the Netherlands.

Eech bad pick. Iceland probably has fewest angry turkish people.

I would have guessed Switzerland aka Myforeignbankaccountland would have been a more likely choice.
