What event in gaming history would you change?

Postby Deschenek » Fri Jun 19, 2009 2:39 pm

If you could go back in time and through some quirk escape without creating a universe destroying paradox change something in gaming history what would you do?

If anybody actually cares I would probably go back in time and make sure Black Isle (the company who made fallout) does not shut down.

Id advise Sega to have a brand new Sonic game out for the Saturn Launch, and ask them nicely not to alienate their third party developers...

If theyd have done so I could be sittin here with a badass Dreamcast 2 right now...

Prevent Jack Thompson from ever getting his anti-game campaign underway back when Mortal Kombat was first released. There would be none of this insipid paranoia over games if he hadn't snivelled needlessly over how it would make youths violent.

I dunno, I think ET was a welcome dose of reality to the Gaming scene. And by that, I mean it was so awful we had to look carefully at where we were coming from and going with electronic entertainment. If ET hadn't been made the way it was, we could well have been doomed to a market full of movie-franchise titles, each specific to its own gaming hardware.

But then all the other better MMOs wouldn't be here.

I would stop Crash Bandicoot from happening.

Make sure World of Warcraft stays closer to its Pen&Paper variant...

That should do the trick. :ugeek:

Or make sure that it is Bioware who's developing NWN2, not Obsidian.

Damn, these two are hard choices... >_<

Prevent EA from 1) existing and 2) ruining various franchises for their own gain.

I'd send Jack Thompson back to 1972 to go and unplug that first version of Pong. Reminiscent of some film starring a man with a biceps bigger than his head you say? Yes, well in order to beat the machines, irony is quite cruel and well suited. Mwhahahahaha!

Hardly. The Dreamcast was a wonderful system, and ahead of its time in regards to online gaming. One change I'd have made would be that the Dreamcast would have had a DVD drive rather than a proprietry one. This is the main reason it fell to the PS2, because Sony pushed that feature really heavily in the first few ads.
