ask moderation about reading serious moderation candidates TGs without telling them about it until afterwards and/or apparently refusing to confirm/deny the exact timeline of TG reading ~~~ i hope you never sent any of the recent mods or the ones that got really close anything personal!

signature edit: confirmation has been received. they will explicitly do it before and without asking. they can look at TGs basically whenever they want so please keep this in mind when nominating people for moderator or TGing good posters/anyone!

Benxboro Republic
Formed 76 years ago as a movement to succeed and overthrow The One True Benxboro Empire, the Benxborian Republic is a federal parliamentary republic devoted to liberalism (here known as Freethought) in all its' forms.

By the last century B.C., the Roman Republic had run out of 'civilised' opponents to obliterate so those who ran it started upon each other gold and glory. Rival generals Marius and Sulla took turns to take de facto full control. They were called dictators rather than emperors but amounted to the same thing. In the end a certain Roman with a long nose and bad haircut come out on top. He was called Julius Caesar.

I'd have welcomed any viable alternative to Jeremy Corbyn. Unfortunately we got Angela Eagle instead.

CORRECTION: Anyone who has joined the Labour Party after February this year gets no vote in the leadership election, unless they pay a £25 fee within a given two day window that has not yet been specified.

Does that mean the original three quid brigade are still entitled to their vote without buggery?

This sounds better for Corbyn than Eagle. He's already received 60% of those ballots cast before February, whereas Eagle hasn't.

UK scientists dropped from EU projects because of post-Brexit funding fears

Still not gotten around to asking if anyone's actually had their doctorate threatened yet.

Since I've not seen anyone state such (and really haven't been looking), I'll assume that presently, not.

I like to think of it more as coming to a realization that if all it takes is a few quid, being a party member is fairly meaningless.

If Eagle wins she can help to repair the party seen as, realistically speaking, the Tories are on course to win a third term in 2020 (early days yet I know). Once she's brought stability back to the party, we'll be able to see if she's capable of leading in the polls. If not, my support would go to Owen Smith because I think he appears more prime ministerial. The current priority has to be removing Corbyn though.

Arkolon wrote:This sounds better for Corbyn than Eagle. He's already received 60% of those ballots cast before February, whereas Eagle hasn't.

Nah more members = more support for Corbyn because it dilutes the influence of the 'original' labour membership (basically the members who didn't join last year just to vote for Corbyn). Corbyn got 60% support last year but that will drop if the electorate is kept the same. Having more members makes it much more unpredictable.

Because the more people who are part of the party the less likely we are to elect a candidate that will have broard popular appeal of course.
