Highly likely that Labour Party itself will challenge the decision in the courts

So the Labour Party is going to sue it's own NEC, to remove it's own leader, over the wishes of a (sizable amount, probably a) majority of it's own members.

ask moderation about reading serious moderation candidates TGs without telling them about it until afterwards and/or apparently refusing to confirm/deny the exact timeline of TG reading ~~~ i hope you never sent any of the recent mods or the ones that got really close anything personal!

signature edit: confirmation has been received. they will explicitly do it before and without asking. they can look at TGs basically whenever they want so please keep this in mind when nominating people for moderator or TGing good posters/anyone!

I'm against leaving, but overriding the referendum is a slap on the face to democracy.

To save the Labour party from collapsing on itself.

well that's a ridiculous stance. the PLP could just respect the decision of the majority of the voters in the leadership elections, to save the labour party from collapsing on itself, but i doubt you'd suggest that.

js, but if we do decided to go for "simply reads - bugger", I'd like to suggest that we try for a more complete quote of "Made a note. Simply says: Bugger"

(please don't change the actual thread options because it sometimes resets tho)

I think just for the sake of reference I'll call the title poll some time on Friday and then swap in the Labour leadership poll once we know exactly who's running.

what about the hundreds of thousands of people that voted him in? it's not like jeremy stepping down is going to heal the division in the labour party, just... make it so we never get a left-wing candidate ever again? nice.

Cameron's resignation helped the Tories unite around a mutually acceptable leader.

Honestly Angela Eagle is left wing, even though she's possibly even less electable than Corbyn - perhaps if Corbyn had resigned earlier we might have got a better challenger. I think Corbyn resigning will do short term damage, but not as much as the party forcing him out unwillingly, nor as much as some weird situation after a second Corbyn victory where he has no control over his own party and becomes extremely weak opposition to the conservatives.

I don't imagine you'll ever be rid of an eton lot. Dave is gone but surely more are to follow

Cameron quite clearly didn't have the base behind him. He staked his premiership on the referendum and lost.

Supposedly, May cared little for the Old Etonian's club that Dave turned the Tory cabinet into.
