The desensitization already occurs if you like it or not in a society where slavery or beating others is the norm. Being raised in an environment naturally does it, so when you are old enough to prehaps object....you are unable to as your find nothing wrong with what is occurring as it's normal to you. Like children raised in war torn countries, the site of death and guns are so common that many have no problems playing with or using weapons to harm others. In fact, doing so to your foes seem like the normal response instead of using non-violent means. This can be seen a lot more with refugees whose children has grown up in such environments and then go to other, more peaceful, nations. Occasionally these children (now teens) will end up in gangs, as refugees are never put in good neighborhoods, and are more likely to commit more violent or deadly attacks than other gang member.

PS: Desensitization will, and does, occur regardless if you approve or not.

The conscience is subjective and greatly influenced by the culture around it, that's my point. How do you that something is wrong if you don't know anything different or do not have any other point of reference to use?
