I came to that opinion at this point:

So everyone knows that the American education system is in deep trouble. It is obvious to anyone with half a brain that what we are doing isn't working. But what should be done about it? There seem to be as many answers as political persuasions. Some say that the problem is teacher's unions. Others think that unions should be stronger. Still others say to just privatize the whole system.

I offer a different solution. I think that we already have an example of what works best: Waldorf Schools, aka Steiner education. In such institutions, beyond the rapacious grasp of Big Pharma and their shills, America's youth can thrive anf blossom into beautiful intellectual butterflies. The only thing different in my idea is that we want to teach patriotic values... So how's this for innovation : we can teach them the most Patriotic and truly American thing : Austrian economics. Start at an early age with basic logic and some parables that teach about the virtues of free markets.

There's no excuse for it, no matter what ideology you're pushing. It was bad to push every other radical ideology and it's bad for this one, too. As long as I'm an American citizen, I will countenance no such bullshit in this nation's public schools.

But it sure helps. Also, from students with higher IQs get into gifted classes which have much better teachers than regular. This is from my personal experience going through high school as a gifted student. The regular teachers can really suck sometimes.

Your poll is, um... Interesting. Rather narrow minded, but interesting. Needless to say, I will not be pidgeonholed by your perception of what I believe, and thus, will not answer it.

After briefly researching the idea of Steiner education, I think that it might- might- be a good idea in theory, but practice? What would this cost? How would unions take this? Where is the money for the retrofitting going to come from? How would the Feds regulate this? How could this be regulated?

Overall, in an idealistic sense it would work. Practically, it probably can't.

And that analysis doesn't make me a shill of Big Pharma, thank you very much.

Public schools are seriously underfunded. That's the big problem.

I would blame unionization. Their pay scale is... Well, out of wack. They pay based on seniority, and typically pay administration before they pay teachers, and teachers before facilities. Rewrite the union terms, and you'd probably see drastic changes in the education system, at least on the public level.
