I'm a little reluctant also to take what Nick Clegg says at face value for obvious reasons.
Edit:
And I'm also reluctant to trust IPSO. It's the Press moderating the press

Same issue as faces any of those sort of businesses (airbnb, for example.) I use it a lot, and I've never had issues with it. For people with disabilities, some of its features (such as paying on your card so you don't have the fun fun fun of drivers telling you that your 20 pound note is a fiver, and messages to say where your car is, as well as being able to check to make sure that your taxi isn't going round and round the block to increase the amount you're paying) are excellent.

You might not, but there are some really dodgy people using it.

Why do I want to pay mystery fare from an inconvenient location when I get an, almost always lower, advance fixed price, pick up wherever, and excellent and responsive customer service from a company that depends on my approval rather than of licensing agencies?

I don't know anyone who has used Uber.
Basically all of the big taxi companies in Liverpool have low, advanced prices and at least two have apps that can give you driver updates, tracking and estimated fare.
Because I travel by train a lot, I get a lot of black cabs too. Because I know the rough distance I'll be travelling, it's never a particular surprise how much I'll be paying.
Some of the taxi drivers in Grimsby are fucking scumbags though. I swear some of them deliberately take an overly long route to make me pay thirteen fucking quid when everyone else takes me on a route that's ten on the nose.
