Seeing this live on my local news, will post a link when I can.

Correction: They were amendments, not bills, and two of them achieved majorities (which wasn't enough, they needed supermajorities).

Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of projectile weapons.

$20,000 is an awful lot of money when I can make a bow myself. It also saves me money on dinner, and stops the rabbits from eating my vegetables, and all without making an enormous racket that would bother the neighbors.

Your bow can't put hundreds of rounds downrange in a few seconds.

Plus there are cheaper MG's than that, you can get a Mac or a Reising for $4000-$6000, still not cheap on it's own but they're good entry level MG's.

Senate blocks gun measures offered in wake of Orlando shooting

Two Republican proposals would have increased funding for the national background check system and created a judicial review process to keep a person on a terror watch list from buying a gun; two Democratic measures would have expanded background checks to private gun sales and allowed the Justice Department to ban gun sales to suspected terrorists.

Nice to see this thread celebrating that would-be terrorists still have no real impediment to legally obtaining firearms.
Crimes committed by Muslims will be a pan-Islamic plot and proof of Islam's inherent evil. On the other hand crimes committed by non-Muslims will merely be the acts of loners who do not represent their belief system at all.
The probability of one's participation in homosexual acts is directly proportional to one's public disdain and disgust for homosexuals.
If a political figure makes an accusation of wrongdoing without evidence, odds are probable that the accuser or an associate thereof has in fact committed the very same act, possibly to a worse degree.

Because if terrorists aren't allowed to buy guns, that means the rights of lawful citizens are being violated as well.

It's fine. If they turn out to be terrorists, the hordes of legal gun owners can overwhelm them with superior firepower.

And kill a bunch of bystanders, but that's the price of freedom.

Nice to see you still don't believe in due process. I thought you of all people would oppose this as it could disproportionately impact those who are brown and/or not Christian.

Prove that we did/do.

I'll be waiting here for whatever silly response you can bear to muster.

Did I say anything about directly handing over guns? No. Cute. But impeding any attempt to make it harder for terror suspects to legally arm themselves certainly is not minding them getting armed so readily.

I would have loved a way to keep him from getting his guns, but how do you do it? The FBI didn't have him on a watch list when he committed the shooting. So the terror watch list idea wouldn't have worked. How many other shootings have been carried out by people on that list who legally bought their guns? As far as I can tell none, so using the watch list would do nothing at all.

He had a license which required 60+ hours to get, and a physiological evaluation.
