There was no World Cup in 2002.
There was some weird tournament somewhere in Asia, I heard. But no World Cup. Certainly not one involving Italy getting spectacularly shafted. Nope.

Yeah, nothing internationally except two Olympic golds and a silver, four 2nd place finishes in the Copa America, and a World Cup final.

For once I agree, there was no world cup in 2002.

Second place doesn't count. ;)

I don't know, I recall fondly being a kid watching Brazil beat Germany with Ronaldo's shitty haircut being on the news for the entire year.

I don't think NK can get open enough nor throw enough money at this to even remotely make it happen.

Silver lining: If they did, we'd probably be significantly more likely to see a champion that wasn't from Europe or South America

And Rivaldo getting 'hit' in the face.

The most biased officials you could think of couldn't have stopped the 2002 Brazilian squad. :p

New zealand doing what they can do; while Russia is not brilliant, but it has the victory. Portugal and Mexico have a good group.

Matches of Confederations Cup.

Is there a new thread opened for the upcoming season that I've missed?

Also James Rodriguez off to Bayern on a two year loan. Didn't know it was possible to get a loan deal that long. Can't imagine how much Bayern must be paying for that.

Apparently Neymar is off to PSG for roughly $250m, with only the medical and personal terms to finalize the deal. This is ridiculous the amount of money being thrown around...

I think Barca doesn't want to sell Neymar, but some offers are too good to refuse.

Even if it ends up being just a ploy for Neymar to get a better deal at Barca, the fact that PSG was willing to meet that buyout clause is a little ridiculous.

After watching yesterday's match of USA vs El Salvador, where two Salvadoran guys bite Altidore and González, do you think there's a chance of a punishment against those two like it happened with Suárez back in WC?

Multi-game bans are a definite, but I doubt it'll be as long or as wide-ranging as Suarez's was, unless they have prior form (remember that the Chellini incident was Suarez's third bite),
