Ooh, so I was poking around on my school's web portal to find an online class to register for for the second summer session and I found a course on Religion in America that satisfies my Modern Historical Perspectives requirement, and the textbooks look super interesting. I'm pretty excited for this.

A university course with a textbook? Rare. A university course with textbooks? What is this?

I suppose the advantage of having textbooks is that I wouldn't be currently surrounded by pages and pages and pages of paper (admittedly not all readings, some of it is what I used the readings for... i.e. essays)... but have I not just spend the last twenty minutes organising my files (on the computer, duh) for one of my two (of five) courses with a textbook.*

*Possibly there is a third textbook course but it is non prescribed.

During my Bachelor's there were plenty of textbooks.

Master's mostly has professor's notes...which are sometimes longer than 100 pages.

I know textbooks are normal. They're just not particularly normal here... and readings are completely abnormal for most BSc subjects (including the ones which are in a BA) and, weirdly, history courses have no textbooks (but lots of readings, bad sentencing Forsher).
