The West won the world not by the superiority of its ideas or values or religion … but rather by its superiority in applying organized violence. Westerners often forget this fact; non-Westerners never do.

The most fundamental problem of politics is not the control of wickedness but the limitation of righteousness.

I keep coming here expecting to eventually see witty banter from Dyakovo, especially with talk of turtles [the turtle flag was most memorable].

And then I remember he's gone. And then I get all feelsy.

Even though I didn't know him for that long, he was staple in TET. It isn't quite the same without him.

I know. To be honest, I only ever lurked on TET originally just for Dya's witty banter or simply to laugh at something going on. Now it just doesn't feel right.

At least there was cake, so it wasn't too formal.

All us councilors went to Asheville last night to eat pizza for dinner and three of us were talking about all the good old cartoons like Hey Arnold and Catdog and As Told By Ginger and The Wild Thornberries and Rocket Power, etc. and one of the high school age employees, he's like 15, knew none of those shows, has never heard of them. He tried saying that Phineas and Ferb is a classic. Needless to say he made us feel old.

Meanwhile, basically got paid yesterday for taking a two week vacation in the mountains. Campers arrive tomorrow.
