Nothing else than her and us is allowed to live here for long. No bugs, and especially nothing that walks on four legs.
We used to babysit the in-laws' dog (Tippy, passed away 2 years ago). Misty trolled that poor dog to hell.

Honestly, I had 3 cats at one point and things were a little caotic. I rather have one cat at a time. If I decide to have 2, I'll try to have them grow up together. Misty too has always been an only cat and to introduce a second feline into an environment she considers all her own can cause too much stress. I don't want that for her either. I think she had enough stress while living with her former family.

She has finally, after 3 years with us, settled and is stress-free. She's 12 years old. I want her last years to be happy and peaceful. ^_^

The former owners said to her that if she found a good home for her, to give her away for adoption. We happened to visit and since she knows I love cats, she brought her up to us. We took her home the next day. ^_^

Cats have been known to appreciate each other's company, but cats have also been known not to appreciate each other's company at all. It is all very complicated.

This is why I love and appreciate cats more than dogs.
Like me, there are more psychologically self-contained. We both can enjoy company and solitude in equal measure. Dogs typically have a much harder time adapting to the loss of their homes and owners than cats.
In the wild, big cats are typically solitary hunters, and while they must maintain a hunting territory as large as say a wolf or coyote pack, their kill ratios are just as successful. Actually, big cats enjoy some of the highest kill rates of any land predator, averaging just over thirty percent. That may not seem very stellar at a glance, but consider the evolutionary dynamic.
A tiger for example may average 700 pounds at seven feet long, and moves as quickly and nimbly as any house cat. Imagine how the prey animals of such a beast had to adapt so they can get away 6/10 times they are chased. Adversity is a beautiful thing, and nothing quite relishes it like a cat, except maybe me.
