Britain is far more similar to countries such as the United States culturally, politically, economically (or should be), than our neighbours in France or Italy. Likewise, the idea of a 'true democracy' is really just a myth- there is no such thing as a true democracy without the threat of anarchy, and therefore I believe both the UK & US have attained maximum democratic potential as we are.

Chips with vinegar is gloriously British. As is sausages and mash, roast dinners and chicken tikka masala (invented in Britain, and one of our delicacies). So to all those people who have had a bad experience of British food, don't go to a tourist shop, and don't judge British food by any meal experience in central London.

I know all of this, but you are not grasping what I am saying because I am explaining it to a fellow UK person in terms they understand.

US Jello= gelatin set fruit flavoured dessert; in the UK this is called jelly.
US Jelly = all pectin set fruit preserves; in the UK there is a distinction between jams which are pectin set preserves containing pieces of fruit, and ones which have no pieces of fruit, these are also called jelly.

So yes, it apparently does.

The modern Pizza was invented in Naples Italy.

modern pizza has been attributed to baker Raffaele Esposito of Naples. In 1889, Esposito -- who owned a restaurant called the Pizzeria di Pietro -- baked what he called "pizza" especially for the visit of Italian King Umberto I and Queen Margherita. According to legend, this pizza was topped with mozzarella, basil and tomatoes to represent the three colors of the Italian flag, and the style was named for Queen Margherita.
