You may have aided us eventually in the Second World War, but hat was mainly won by Russia. You helped win the war, we won the peace.

You also have us loads of money (Marshall aid) and we used to fund a decent welfare state, which you now say you cannot afford. Another American own goal.

The USA took down Japan essentially single-handedly (nice job with Singapore, mates), kept the Germans from overrunning the Russians in the first place with the equipment and supplies we sent them, and then enabled the Russian counterattack to succeed by destroying their industry with our daytime bombing (which we did because the Brits were too scared to do so, and took the night bombing). No contest here.

So, Britain's welfare state being based off both American generosity, and America essentially paying for much of Britain's defense, helps your Britain-is-better cause how, exactly? If the U.S. drops off the face of the planet, Britain is in trouble, and their lovely welfare is as well-if Britain drops off the face of the planet, the U.S. says "meh." That should tell you something.

The USA did not 'single handedly' take down Japan, think that Britain and it's empire defeated the Japanese in India and Burma.
Great Britain stood off attacks by Germany for a year with no military support, bearing in mind we are a small nation, and defeated both Germany and Italy in North Africa.
Also we did not get involved in the Vietnam war because it was one of the most pointless and stupid wars of all time.
Also by the way not everything is about wars.

And if Britain had been defeated by the Germans prior to America getting off its isolationist arse, Germany would have secured western Europe and concentrated its forces against the soviets, leaving you to fight the Japanese and Germans alone. The only reason you could attack western Europe was using us as a Launchpad.

Oh and we cracked the enigma code which cut at least a year off the war and saved countless American seamen. (snigger "seamen")

Chill i'm not being serious. Just dabbling into a bit of blind unwavering patriotism. 8)

There is a common misconception that you fought a revolutionary war against us to become an independent country. In reality we were prepared to let you rule yourselves from the start, but we needed to kill as many of you as possible as revenge for an inexcusable waste of tea.

No, no. That's Northern Ireland. They aren't actually british, just UK, so technically, it's not our fault.

That's the benefit of being a citizen of England, you are a citizen of 3 "countries" (England, Great Britain, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland) so it's easy to dodge the blame.

For example: If he does shit, Andy Murray is Scottish. If he wins, he's British

Well technically, we have ancestral homelands everywhere. Wherever you were born on earth, there is about a 1/5 chance we used to own it.
