And that 10 people is a tiny number. You chance of being killed unarmed is statistically tiny. You are about as likly to be killed by lightning.

I must point out that a not-insignificant number of black people in prison for murder and/or rape have been exonerated based on DNA evidence.

There's a justice system bias in play, along with socioeconomic factors. It's not "darkies are inherently more dangerous".

Obviously there is bias in the the justice system. And the reason for the higher murder rate ceratainly is based on socioeconomic factors I said before.

However the high rate of violent crime also means a higher likelihood of violent encounters with police.

I love how people turn everything into racism... pay attention to more than the headline "Cop shoots Minority Member" and realize that said Minority member was oftentimes threatening the safety or lives of innocent bystanders. Nobody complains when an officer arrests/shoots a white man, should minorities recieve special treatment and NOT be arrested for direct violations of US law just because they aren't white? There might be a few cases of discrimination but hardly any conpared to what the media makes it out to be. Anyways, for all you police-hating anarchists: be grateful because without law enforcement you'd probably be dead in a week.

I remember in St. Louis when a little girl was shot and killed in a gang turf clash. Everybody was too busy protesting the police shooting of an armed drug dealer (who was "allegedly" running away) to care about the girl.

It was fucking sick and shows the priorities of this movement.

First of all, I regret that my school seems to be relevant for only this topic, and that this incident has enraged so many people.

I know the individual who tore down the billboard. Not very well, but I do know her. She is actually a very sweet person who has only ever been friendly towards me. I know that the Dartmouth experience has been personally difficult for her, and national events that hit so close to home can't help. I also imagine that the vandalism of the 'Black Lives Matter' awareness display a week before the incident may have been a factor. I agree that it was wrong to tear down the 'Blue Lives Matter' billboards. And from my understanding, she has since recognized that as well. I believe she has apologized and expressed that she absolutely does not hate the police or believe they are not valuable (if memory serves me correctly).

Yes, it was a violation of fellow students' free speech. Yes, it was somewhat tongue-in-cheek of the College Republicans to put up that display using that phrasing. But it is also immense pain and vulnerability, young students trying to figure out their own selves, their place in the world, and how to change it for the better.

When this happened, the College denounced the action and reminded the students that free speech must be protected - be it the Black or Blue Lives Matter display. I would like to believe we can only move forward and better understand ourselves and each other in the future.

They were in the wrong. Most police officers do a good job and even if they don't, they don't deserve to get shot. Neither do people who get arrested unless they're a threat.

I don't know for sure, but I don't think they're trying to say that cops should be shot.

Rather, they're probably objecting to people trying to use "Blue Lives Matter" (like "All Lives Matter") to distract from their campaign, which is trying to address problems faced specifically by the black community, or use it to turn people agains them.
