iTunes King no more?

Postby Gig em Aggies » Thu May 12, 2016 6:55 pm

http://www.cnet.com/news/apple-no-were-not-killing-off-itunes-music-downloads/

This is just one of several sites that have reported that Apple is supposedly ridding the world of ITunes but an Apple spokesman says "Not True" then again "Not True" reason being is that supposedly Apple wants to shoot itself in the foot buy losing hundreds of millions of dollars and instead focus on streaming services which don't bring a squattel pop 12 million dollars.

Me: This concerns me I buy my music from nowhere else but Apples ITunes service, plus it will be bad for business for Apple and thousands of people I sure hope if Apple does this som other company buys the ITunes platform and leaves it running while laughing all the way to the bank while watching Apples stream service get flushed down the drain.

So what you obviously "nice" people of NS think?

They said that won't happen, and they're not stupid enough to do that anyways.

I'm apathetic on the matter though, as I hate iTunes/Apple in general.

It's a good platform for music. They have no good reason to.

I think their arrangement where they delete any music they don't recognize on their service - even if it is your music that you've created - is a load of crap, and they ought to be smitten from on high for it. But hey. >_>

My old ipod doesn't hold a charge anymore, the computer that I had all my music on shat itself, and I just couldn't be arsed since to get it all set back up again. I've no idea what I'd even use at this point, tbh.

Dude, CD's and Vinyl are the way to go. iTunes was best in the 2000s.

Me, I despise iTunes and whatever is made by Apple utterly (I maintain that Apple products range from overpriced junk to overpriced decent PCs with crappy copies of BSD), so whatever floats Apple's and their customers' boat I guess. I trust the CEOs of Apple to know whatever will bring them more money in short time.

Oh, I thought this was going to be about some new competitor with a bit of peer-to-peer file-sharing as a cause of iTunes' downfall thrown in for good measure.

Nah, they're not going to get rid of iTunes. Not for a while anyway. No streaming service can lure me off of iTunes, esp. without an iPhone of my own.

Meh. I just MP3 convert Youtube videos and put them onto my phone. Why pay for music when you can get it for free?

The better question is.. Why pay for damaged music with DRM on it?
CDs may cost more but you get better audio quality and unrestricted control over what you play in return.

Sure, if you have the money and space for a hifi setup and also are paralysed for several months and don't have to worry about being somewhere your soundsystem isn't.

If it makes more profit than it loses money, then Apple is going to keep iTunes. I have no use for the software though, not a music person. What alternatives compete against iTunes or could feasibly replace it if iTunes were discontinued like QuickTime 7? It seems to me that a lot of people just find music online for free, they generally can't be made to actually pay for it.

I use iTunes because I own an iPod. It is a convenient place for all my music to live and be organised.

I don't like the iTunes program and never have. That said I don't see why they'd discontinue something unless it became unprofitable.
