It's come to my ears (or eyes, seeing as I read it) that there is going to be an increase in military personnel in Germany of about 14 000 military and 4000 (or such) civilian personnel. Also, Secretary of Defense Ursula von der Leyen has announced a turnaround in spending policies regarding the military.
A few days prior, the Ministry of Defense has also announced plans to create a cyber warfare group inside the military that exists besides the Air Force, Navy and Ground Forces as an independent branch.
As a German, I think this is actually a very good idea, both the cyber warfare department and the increase in military spending. I think an overhaul of the military has been necessary for quite some time now, especially with how Miss von der Leyen revealed the disastrous condition the military was in before, with only a small percentage of the Air Force's assets actually ready to fly and the shortcomings of the G36 rifle. What are your thoughts on this? Should the German government (or other governments, for that matter) further increase military spending? Or just leave it as it is?
And while we're at it, are you more of a supporter of an active military with a high budget for any nations or rather a supporter of low-budget and low-standard militaries?
