Corbyn wishes to replace the very strong music industry in our private sector, by nationalizing it and putting it under the control of the Ministry of the Arts of the Soviet Socialist Republic of Great Britain.

The creative industry is the latest to come out and say they think Brexit would negatively impact them. Channel 4 News tonight had a debate on the topic, though I didn't catch most of it.

I assume this is a statement related to that.

That whole post sounded dangerously Lamadiaish

I see. Any particular reason you only want UK citizens voting?

Because they are citizens of the United Kingdom. I don't understand how you can dispute that foreigners shouldn't vote in our elections?

"Foreigners", except those that take up citizenship, don't vote in our elections anyway.

We were talking about the referendum, which uses the electoral register to determine franchise.

If they are a citizen, then you can't really call them a foreigner.

I hate it when people call comrade Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson english, he is only "english" for tax reasons.

How come you can't vote in the referendum? I was 100% positive it was the same franchise for both.

well yeah but you're the guy that half of us can never remember whether you're british or not so you're basically cheating
ask moderation about reading serious moderation candidates TGs without telling them about it until afterwards and/or apparently refusing to confirm/deny the exact timeline of TG reading ~~~ i hope you never sent any of the recent mods or the ones that got really close anything personal!

signature edit: confirmation has been received. they will explicitly do it before and without asking. they can look at TGs basically whenever they want so please keep this in mind when nominating people for moderator or TGing good posters/anyone!

Given that they are living in the UK full time, their foreignness doesn't seem relevant. Besides which, you've been doing things that way for some time now and I'm not aware of your nation being destroyed by it.

We were talking about the referendum, which uses the electoral register to determine franchise.

Which includes quite a few people who are foreigners and haven't taken up citizenship.

No; the general election and referendum franchises are different.

In a general election, the franchise extends to UK citizens, citizens of Ireland resident in the UK, citizens of Commonwealth countries resident in the UK (including countries whose membership is suspended), and citizens of EU countries resident in the UK. Note that Irish, Maltese, and Cypriot citizens qualify under two of these categories.

In the referendum, the franchise extends to UK citizens, citizens of Ireland resident in the UK, and citizens of Commonwealth countries resident in the UK (including countries whose membership is suspended).

So EU citizens can vote in our general elections, but - except for Irish, Maltese, and Cypriots, who qualify separately - can't vote in the EU referendum.
