Ideally what would happen is you'd get a traditionalist going apeshit, and then the pro-equality people would slide in and go "No, but yes." and explain the different reasoning.

The Selective Service is more of a contingency than a draft. Nobody in the US has been drafted since 1973.

But, the standards should be the same. If you need to have a certain strength and endurance to be an effective soldier, then you need to meet those standards. The shock and awe factor on the enemy of seeing a female soldier isn't enough to make up for a difference there
