He was just too crazy to be president. As a party activist or something, it's OK, but in office?

Honestly, this is what I always saw McAfee as more than anything in regards to American libertarianism. He's a bit...wonky as a political leader, but as an activist or messenger who used the cultural obsession with celebrity and oddities to his advantage he could be entertaining and effective. Like an Iron Man to Johnson's Captain America...And now that I think about it, I'm pretty sure McAfee->Iron-Man is probably the most apt analogy I can come up with for the dude. McAfee's already rocking the goatee.

Regrettably, McAfee doesn't seem to be holding on too much in terms of carrying on the message.

McAfee definitely plays the badass card better than Trump. If you dumped them on a desert island together, Trump would spend the whole time whining, and McAfee would be the one telling him to get a fucking grip and do something useful.

What do you guys think about a universal basic income?

Replacing most other forms of welfare and making sure the people who fall through the cracks can survive. It's a left-wing thing but I heard lots of libertarians support it.

It's a shame he doesn't seem very interested in helping the party, I feel like he could do some great stuff to help at lower levels. Same with Petersen.

I honestly think the party would be better without Petersen. He's basically the living embodiment of everything that people don't like about Libertarians. People like that are why a lot of leftists think the LP is a right-wing party and will not consider voting Libertarian -- even when there is common ground on ending the war on drugs and less aggressive foreign policy.

McAfee could do some good if he was willing to help out at lower levels. I mean, he's nuts, but he's still got style and charisma and can get people's attention.

I think it's an interesting concept.

It would waste less money on bureaucracy and administrative costs. A lot of the money that we currently put into our welfare system never even goes to the poor people the system is supposed to help because the system is too complicated, and the means testing creates too much paperwork and red tape.

Pregnancy = / = rape.

Get a grip, ffs.

That depends if it's consensual (cos anything consensual is obviously not rape) and if you consider embryos and fetuses to be people.

If you think embryos and fetuses aren't people yet, then it's not rape, but abortion is still fine because something that is not a person yet does not have rights.

9 months of pregnancy is not equivalent to one action of rape, by the long shot though. If you accept that fetuses aren't people, then you should accept the premise that the fetus has no control over it's situation, and thus doesn't count as rape.

You are starting to sound like the MSNBC opinion talking heads with that rhetoric. Stahp.

Sounds a lot like the GOP under Donald Trump, at least to the rest of the world and the people who are still sane in America.

Inflation can be controlled through monetary policy, and after an initial spike in demand where everybody goes spending I think people would be more responsible with it.

You mean by raising the interest rates and inflating the money even more? Because that's the only way you are going to control it through monetary policy. On the other hand, too low interest rates means we have excessive lending going on, also bad.

People don't tend to be responsible with money that's not their own.
