So, adding Tubman to the 20 is serving to bring even more racists out of the woodwork.

Christ, the past year or so have been a social-political whirlwind. Black Lives Matter, Trump, and now this? Glad to know who among my friends still has some racist/xenophobic/reactionary garbage floating around in their head. And which ones will rabidly defend said garbage.

I dunno, nobody has really complained about Tubman on the 20 among my circle of friends, so it might be just your area.

Also, a lot of people are missing the fact Jackson will still be proudly featured, except on the back of the 20 instead of in the front. You might want to tell them about it just to see the shock on their faces and try to excuse themselves.

I'm rather excited to see the change as well. A lot of people think they are automatically replace the 20, but this is just not true, it'll take a while before the old 20s are taken out of circulation. You can't pump more money into the economy than there already is so it'll take a couple decades before the Feds collect all the tender in circulation.

Heck, I occasionally still see the old twenties from before the most recent redesign.

If they really wanted to, you could expediate the process - for instance, by requiring banks to start destroying the old 20s in exchange for the equivalent in the new ones. But that'd be unlikely for just a currency redesign, unless there was, like, a serious counterfeiting national emergency of some sort. If the old twenties were capable of sexual reproduction, maybe.

iirc some of the smallest early adopters of the Euro managed the transition in like six months.

I don't see Ol' Hickory being the gay type. Plus the homosexual stuff doesn't tend to bring about reproduction anyway.

The Federal Reserve is going to collect the old notes from the banks.

Thing is, a lot of people still handle old cash here in the U.S.; Cash here in the U.S. IS king, and many people just have old dollars stuffed among household items and crap. So it takes longer here in the U.S. to get all the Fed notes. And a lot of people also don't trust banks here in the U.S. either, which makes circulatory note collection much harder.

son of a fucking bitch

Jackson was a funny and badass character, but kind of like really fucking evil??? I will admit it is deliciously ironic to have him on our paper money from the Federal Reserve, when he fought tooth and nail for hard coin and the abolition of the central bank.

I love getting two dollar bills, fifty cent pieces, and old styles of notes in my change.

A couple weeks ago, there were all kinds of old bills that were supposed to be out of circulation floating around the couple small towns around here. Pretty much every business had at least a couple. Suppose someone had a bit of a collection they decided to dump back into the cash pool.

I hope we don't ever transition to ugly modernistic plastic-looking European-style bullshit.
