Yeah I know we all hate Palin and think she is a nut.
Is it not a little past even a comedy show to reference her child with Down's syndrome?

The last episode of Family Guy I saw made racial stereotype jokes about Asians, Jews, and Blacks...all in the span of about two minutes.

Palin ought to be glad it wasn't worse. :p

...I'm actually of the opinion that they're trying to get the show canceled. The blatantly offensive humor has gotten much more prevalent of late.

Ain't it great?

Palin is irrelevant. Want to throw a snowball at her? She is the last level on petas "throw snowballs at people" FPS.

http://www.peta.org/feat/HolidaySnowbal ... index.aspx

I think this is slightly more offensive to her then the part she has a problem with.

To be honest, the reference may have been insensitive but I do not believe that FG went too far. People really need to stop taking every single thing as a serious matter, have a laugh once in a while. It does you good. But, my plea is in vain... :(

Its family Guy they rip on everyone.

Hello Palin welcome to politics, you want to make it big you’re going to get ripped on, you know freedom of speech and all, end of story. It’s not like they're making fun of DS anyway. To me the Joke was "yet another child with a problem in the Palin home" kind of thing, not making fun of DS. More Palin’s use of her children after all why bring her daughter into it aswell?

By the way someone should tell them if they have thick skin they wouldn’t be complaining.

It was in bad taste, to be honest, but I'm sure it wasn't done with any actual malicious intent.

going ANYwhere is "going to far" in the eyes of the sufficiently fanatic. especially in an era of creeping neomccarthyism. which obama was elected in the hope of ending. which he hasn't.

i can't answer the poll though, because i haven't watched television at all in almost a year. and then only once every six months to check out the new commercials for most of the decade before that.

Was it in any worse taste than Palin saying that she believed more children should be born like her son?

I mean, Family Guy might have been going for a laugh, but she's exploiting her kids for fame and political expedience.

They're merely a vocal minority, a Democratic party with a non-backstabbing tent, and a sufficient set of Balls would have nothing to fear from them...

Family Guy will smack you in the fucking face if you're not looking out. They hit hard. And they don't discriminate, they will make fun of everyone. Don't you guys remember that episode they were on Family Fued and they got to the final round where you have to answer the five questions in 30 seconds? Lois was answering the questions, but she was holding Stewie, so he would also answer the question:

Name something you sit in?
Lois: A chair
Stewie: My own feces

Name a popular fruit?
Lois: an orange
Stewie: Clay Aiken

Something in your closet?
Lois: Shoes
Stewie: Scary monsters

Your favorite holiday?
Lois: Christmas
Stewie: 9/11

Something you do on the weekend?
Lois: Go to church
Stewie: Black guys.

In just fifteen seconds they've made fun of Clay Aiken, 9/11 and black guys. I mean, they'd do anything. I think in one epsisode they also made fun of the Columbine shooting, the Griffin family drove through the Colorado border and they sign said something along the lines of: "Welcome to Colordo, we're more than just Columbine"

So, making fun of Palin wouldn't be a big deal, even though her kid does have Trisomy 21.

Nah, they've been doing it so often now I think they're numb to it. Ask John Stewart for the 411 -- he'll clue you in. :D

Family Guy should be celebrated!!!!!!

Postby Icant » Thu Feb 18, 2010 12:09 am

They definitely did not go too far. As far as I'm concerned they are being held back still due to the FCC. I don't believe in any censorship in television, personally. They are intitled to their opinion. My opinion may be different. In fact, I believe Down syndrome should not be joked about. However I do defend to the death their right to air it. THANK YOU FAMILY GUY for actually sticking up for yourselves and airing questionable things. If it weren't for them we would be oppressed even further, in my opinion.
