Yeah I know we all hate Palin and think she is a nut.
Is it not a little past even a comedy show to reference her child with Down's syndrome?

If she didn't parade her kids around, even the one with DS, during the Elections there wouldn't be a reason to make fun of them. But seeing as she paraded them around like farm animals throughout the entirety of the 2008 Election, I say that they are fair game.

One day i think the federal government may go as far as forcefully cancelling the show. it's starting to lose it's funniness, seriously.

The only way Family Guy could show prejudice....is by refusing to ridicule someone or something.

Family Guy is equal opportunities offensiveness long may it continue

The episode was actually pretty funny.

I'm sorry, but this is going too far. To openly make fun of a child with Down's Syndrome is dreadfully cruel, offensive and distasteful, and will also only serve to draw people towards Palin's causes through sympathy and the poor taste of Family Guy's attacks on her. They ought to learn that you can be just as funny without crossing the line, let alone trampling over the line and running a mile beyond it as those behind Family Guy have done.

It is their right to say what they want. They never once mentioned anyones' name, they only hinted. When you are in the public spotlight, you have to expect things like this.

Just because their mother's using them doesn't make it OK for those against her to personally attack them too. Do you think the child with Down's Syndrome actively wanted to become a public figure?

Personally, I cracked up. If Palin is allowed to be part of a party that actively oppresses people and discriminates based upon "religious" ideas, then I think it's fair to discriminate against her and her own people for a fair taste of their own medicine.

I've only seen jokes about the following in The Simpsons:
Drunk Joke
Donut Joke
Joke about the Government that's mildly funny
Nuclear Power Joke
Some joke that's only funny because Homer says it in a weird voice
Americans are fat/dumb joke

Hardly funny.

Indeed. The only thing that was offensive to the child was that she's alleged to be related to Palin.

Again, I haven't seen the episode but I can't find anything in the OP link which specifically tries to make fun of DS.

So it's alright for her to drag the kid into the media but it's wrong for them to joke about it? PLEASE. Palin has no one to blame but herself. When you drag things into the media, that opens it up to be commented on by ANYONE, regardless.

And the new one that was somewhat truer to the comics and grittier and was way better until they cut it and turned it into some Turtles in Time bullshit.
