I can believe it, I can see what you mean, and I can imagine political pressure being applied - it's happened in areas outside the military after all - but I'd like something more solid to base my opinions on, rather than personal bias.

There will always be more men than women in the infantry, simply due to basic biology. The tasks are more demanding, both physically and psychologically, and while the average woman can probably handle the latter, it is unlikely that they can handle the former.

That being said, I don't see why allowing those women who can serve in the infantry would be a problem. If they can handle it, and want to join, then by all means, they should be allowed to do so. A military needs good, strong soldiers, and I see no reason to deny eager recruits. Still though, just judging by the attitude expressed in the article, I doubt this person has what it takes. Mentally, I don't think she's prepared, and standards will either be lowered for her (which is never a good idea) or she'll have a breakdown and no longer be fit for service within the first few months. There's plenty of women who can handle being in the infantry, but I don't think she's one of them.
