Only went to Afghanistan once but never want to go to that hellhole again.

No, I don't. Earlier on the last page, somebody claimed that men only received passing grades if they achieved higher results than women. So when Wallenburg stated that they had to meet the physical requirements, I wanted to know which one he thought they should meet.
Personally, I agree that the difference doesn't really matter that much; I'm just of the onion that if we're okay with women achieving a lower standard, the standard for men should be lowered, too. If it we don't need female soldiers to be able to run at that speed, or do that many push-ups, why do we need male soldiers to achieve same?
Or, y'know, they could raise the requirements for women, but I don't see the point of that.

Lack of internal pashto speakers has been a thorn in the side of the CAF since the start of the afghan mission, I assume it's been the same for every other force deployed in the region. You want folks to strive to be their best, so why is at least a limited level of pashto fluency not included in the categorization of "being the best"?

All that remains is to show that biological systems replicate in such a way as to satisfy the minimal criteria required for evolution to apply to them, something which has already been adequately shown time and again. At this point, we've pretty much proven that not only can evolution happen, it pretty much must happen since it's basically impossible to prevent it from happening.

Bayonet training in the US army was discontinued in 2010.

Standards are there for a reason.

THE CHEST, SHOULDER, AND TRICEPS MUSCLES."
"THE SIT-UP EVENT MEASURES THE ENDURANCE OF
THE ABDOMINAL AND HIP-FLEXOR MUSCLES."
"THE TWO-MILE RUN IS USED TO ASSESS YOUR AEROBIC FITNESS AND YOUR LEG MUSCLES' ENDURANCE."

That it does. As a matter of survival, between a bayonet and a bachelors degree I'd prob take the bachelors degree.

Neither is a sweeping generalisation about women but look at that OP, mate.
I don't see a normal average person, regardless of sex, carry around 80 to 90 lbs for about 15 miles or 20 miles. Do you?
Everybody that wants to serve needs to be trained. Women might have to train harder, on average (though that's still under debate considering people joining the army aren't exactly a randomized sampling of the population, so citing statistics won't get you far), and it's not like they're provided with a trolley, are they?

I only knew enough to get by at check points or searches, nothing else. Didn't see that anything else was really needed.

It's not pointless, it's just highly situational.
In the kind of conflicts the US has found itself in since a bit before 2010, that situation has not particularly presented itself, so it's not surprising they dropped it.

Could you provide proof that the numbers used for the male requirements are more valid than the numbers used for the female requirements, remembering that the military is not a sports team, and that soldiers will generally not be rewarded for being able to carry a heavy bag for a few minutes longer than their compatriots?
by Kubra » Mon Apr 11, 2016 2:14 pm
lol cuz they don't have to pay off your school debt, you gotta foot the bill and military service if you go before enlisting.

Never made much sense to put a knife six inches long on a carbine thirty inches long.
