Well, Trump would treat Mexican Americans the way Teddy treated Chinese Americans.

There are some similarities with the bad aspects of Roosevelt, namely in the nativism and protectionism.

Theodore Roosevelt was a principled man, a centrist, scholar and soldier. Not an anti intellectual sociopath like Trump.

To compare this businessman who would hardly lift a finger to help others to one of America's great Outdoorsmen and go-getters, who promoted the idea of speaking softly and carrying a big stick, is to do the latter an awful disservice.

In fact, I think I could power a perpetual motion machine just by hooking Teddy's grave up to such a thing, the poor guy's spinning in it so fast.

If, by "Something entirely new", you mean "A threat to himself and everyone around him, not to mention the rest of the Earth", then you're entirely right. Otherwise, you're dead wrong.

Teddy does stand out in this regard. His racism was a core part of his political philosophy.

He was not racist in the context of the time. And yes he did do some interventions. But not he did not annex any countries.

Trump has nothing to offer but gauging what might be popular and throwing it out there.

He doesn't stand for anything, he doesn't offer anything.

Imperialism doesn't require annexation.

Indeed, he was. He was around many scientific racists of the time, who were admantly and proudly racist. Listen to this quote from Roosevelt:

"I don't believe the only good Indian is a dead Indian. But nine out of ten are, and I shouldn't inquire too closely into the case of the tenth."

That is not scientifically racist. That is yes a very on PC comment, but again considering the time and the fact he did not practice it, cleary it was not serious.

Also, Bullshit.

"Roosevelt’s attitudes on race fluctuated, though he was generally considered a moderate during his era. As governor of New York, he ended school segregation. Just one month after Roosevelt was sworn in as President, he invited Booker T. Washington, a black civil rights activist, to dine at the White House. The resulting uproar over the perceived impropriety appeared to restrain Roosevelt, who never repeated the invitation. While Roosevelt appointed progressive judges and initially encouraged the prosecution of peonage cases in the South, his administration eventually retreated from these efforts, lacking the political will to uproot the systems of involuntary servitude that existed in the South."

Donald Trump is just Donald Trump... The future Great Supreme Leader of the United States of the American Empire!

In all honesty, I think he's rather original and since he hasn't been elected yet, you can't really compare him to someone who was elected.

You sure about that?

No. He doesn't. He has no policy ideas except for vague promises to "make America great again". Here are his policies from his website.

1. We're gonna build a wall, and I'm gonna make Mexico pay for it. Not an exaggeration, or byte taken out of context, word for word what is on his website.

2. We're gonna ask congress to repeal the Affordable Care Act.

3. We're gonna dick around with China's trade (I'm paraphrasing here).

4. We're gonna slash taxes to a maximum of 15%. Which totally won't destroy the Government's ability to finance its projects.

There's a few other stupid bits, but these are the main four.

He is not a good man, he is not a good candidate, he would not be a good president, and I am terrified, utterly terrified, by the thought of him becoming president.

5. Mexico is going to pay for the wall because I am going to prevent Mexican immigrants from sending money back to Mexico.
