While I am not a fan of Teddy Roosevelt, Trump is the epitome of arrogant populism and wilful manipulation that can only appeal to the ignorant. Teddy was far more intelligent and profound in his principles than Donald Trump could ever hope to be, and I think it an insult to compare Roosevelt to a man that has the emotional intelligence of a door knob.

I fucked up, pinko is just a homophobic slur, isn't it?

I got confused in my head with the compound slur "pinko commie".

Never mind that Oscar Luigi Scalfaro, Carlo Azeglio Ciampi and Giorgio Napolitano would all likely be surprised to hear that Berlusconi was ever 'president' during their terms in the Quirinal Palace.

Actually, I think pinko is for suspected commies.

Googling suggests that it started out as a communist sympathiser (I guess for the reasoning you mentioned) but predictably, now means "anyone vaguely left of centre".

I mean that kind of pinko: on the wrong side of some Cold War McCarthyist line between patriotic American and treasonous Commie rat.

I get a bit socialist sometimes, way beyond that line. I would be honoured to be called a pinko. Anyone who used that label to insult me would be saying more bad things about themselves than about me.

It's a pretty word too.

Trump says what the current croud wants to hear, thats why he is in trouble with both sides regarding Abortion.
The man is smarter than given credit for, and dare I say it, sociopathic. However he and Theodore Roosevelt are two extremely different men.
The OP is reminding me of the folks who copy and paste their personal beliefs into a picture of Ronald Reagan and claim that those are the man's policies.

Teddy would be considered a Progressive by today's GOP.
Which is ironic because he was quite the war-mongerer.

Of course, the more obvious difference could be Trump's openness on his anti-Muslim, xenophobic and other stances Americans are raving about, I would guess.

No, he's not the new Theodore Roosevelt. To say so would be to downplay the revolutionary nature of his politics and his approach.

No he's something much more. Something entirely new.
