Why is Jennifer Government full of spelling mistakes?

Postby Outer Britannia » Sat Apr 02, 2016 10:06 am

Is this the fault of the publisher, or are they deliberate? Even on the publisher's note at the very front they've written "no" instead of "not". It seems sloppy, makes you not wanna read the book.

Don't remember that. What do you consider spelling mistakes? Queens versus American English?

ask moderation about reading serious moderation candidates TGs without telling them about it until afterwards and/or apparently refusing to confirm/deny the exact timeline of TG reading ~~~ i hope you never sent any of the recent mods or the ones that got really close anything personal!

signature edit: confirmation has been received. they will explicitly do it before and without asking. they can look at TGs basically whenever they want so please keep this in mind when nominating people for moderator or TGing good posters/anyone!

I thoroughly enjoyed Lexis.

Why not try that instead? For a novel about words, it seems remarkably free of slip-ups.

Possibly.

It's been a few years since I read it but I think I'd remember an assload of spelling mistakes.

It's just sloppy, the publisher is paid to root out spelling mistakes and they couldn't even check their own spelling on the first page. Max Barry should get his money back.

Maybe it was just a one-time mistake? It could've just been an old publish or there was a mistake with the print.

I thought the editor revised spelling?
For anyone wondering, I joined this website during my edgy teenage years. I made a lot of dumb, awkward posts, flip-flopped between various extreme ideologies, and just generally embarrassed myself. I denounce a sizable amount of my past posts. I am no longer active on NationStates and this nation/account is no longer used.

Could be Australian English? It's more like UK than US but has a few US spellings.

I have my suspicions that Max Barry is not the true author of Jennifer Government. In the publisher's note, I noticed that the publisher referred to him as Mex Borry.

A good question. You haven't been here for long, so it's not as if NationStates General managed to dull all of your feelings yet. Maybe it's a natural talent.

At this point, we've pretty much proven that not only can evolution happen, it pretty much must happen since it's basically impossible to prevent it from happening.
