It's a slippery slope I am describing, to be certain. I certainly don't think it's what UK politicians worry about when the issue comes up.
The fact remains that if the UK recognizes Argentina's claims in spite of the clearly stated will of the Falklands populace, the result is a net negative for the legitimacy of democratic governance, even if it's merely a few flipped seats in parliament and not full-on balkinization.
