It has come to my attention that the only person in my mom's family that sees me as an adult, is my mom. Even my uncle thinks I am 10 and I owe some sort of respect just on account of his age. That I'm not supposed to defend my way of thinking and the people I love because his word is the law and I know nothing about nothing. They all think that somehow he'll make the best president without really understanding that we don't need "a fill-in," we need a real president who will act least act now even if he or she screws up. They're all pretty liberal, but at the same time their grasp of politics isn't all that good so they don't realise how conservative he is and how his views seriously clash with their views. We had school elections today to get school-wide preferences on candidates, I voted Bernie and Trump.

You're an adult, you deserve to be respected as an adult, even your opinions.

Me and my dad disagree on a lot of shit, but one thing we don't mention is how age is relevant. Sure, he tells me I am inexperienced and I respect his experience, but he has earned that respect because he talks with a lot of insight. I admit he gets things wrong a lot of the time too, but we know how to respect each other's differences of opinion.
